I noticed there have been a few people reporting that their black water tank pipe and/or grey water tank pipe became detached from its hanger attachment at the frame and dragged along the road and caused quite a bit of damage.

With this in mind I decided that I would take a close look at the pipe suspension condition on our R177 Hood River RPod.

Although the metal hanger brackets and attaching screws appeared to be holding well the brackets exhibited significant surface corrosion.  They were not plated or painted, just bare metal.  As I had a piece of 1” wide x 16 ga SST strip it was no great effort to make up new hanger brackets for the black and grey water exit pipes.

The disassembly process also revealed that the BW pipe could be raised 1” that would improve underside road clearance and still maintain a good drainage incline.  A further improvement was the introduction of a spacer on the lower pinch bolt to avoid over compression of the pipe and potential bracket damage.
