I was able to run my A/C on Max, fridge (on AC Electric), TV, run the microwave and had 2 or 3 lights on...all powered by a Honda eu2000i generator. It was my friends generator that he let me borrow to test this...granted everything is brand new but I was truly impressed. Plus the generator only weighs about 50lbs...and you can buy 2 and run them in parallel, if your needs increased. Plus the generator is super quiet...not pitching an ad for Honda here just telling you what I tried. I've read a lot of good things about the Yamaha generators too. Hope this helps.

Bought my Honda generator last week... before I am set to pick up my rpod on March 14! We have purchased lots of stuff to go into it. It is our children's spring break, so we are picking it up and immediately going dry camping in the smokies.
Also considering the Northern Tool tounge box for later. Thanks for your updates. Bradley |

We are buying the R pod 171 later this month. It has the 11 K BTU AC, microwave, etc. Will the Honda 2000i generator run all of the equipment including the AC all at once. I want to be clear before buying a generator. Posts here seem to indicate it will. Thanks

When I tested my buddies 2KW Honda generator it worked great so I bought one. However this last trip out (actually our first trip) I overloaded the generator when the microwave kicked on and the fridge, lights, and tv were on. I switched the fridge to LP and then ran the microwave with the lights and tv on and it worked. I think if you have everything on at once it can overload it you just have to be careful. I'm still happy with my generator just need to shut some things off before using the microwave.

I was wondering if there may be something from Forest River on this. I would like to know what size they would recommend for a trailer fully loaded. |

It holds a gallon of gas and according to Honda will last up to 15hrs. I honestly don't remember how long a tank lasted me. We ran ours off and on through out the last trip and I just topped off as needed. If you're concerned that it might not run long enough then there is an accessory you would like...an add on gas tank...I think it holds 5 extra gallons...I think.

All,
Did some dry camping this weekend and needed to run the A/C. Kids were watching a DVD, getting ready for a nap. When the A/C kicked on it would shut off the DVD player. This is really disappointing and I don't think this generator is big enough for my family's power needs. The generator itself is really good and because it is so lightweight I'm going to purchase another one and run them in parallel. But I wanted everyone to know that for some reason my initial testing was wrong (this still confuses me)...Sorry.

uploads/53/RV_Generator_Power_Requirements.txt Hi all! If you're still wondering about generator needs, check out the Honda generator website. It contains a chart of RV power requirements for various appliances. I made a synopsis adapted to the R-Pod but find I can't send it as an attachment. I'll send it to Forest River and ask them to post it.
To the gentleman who ran everything including the air conditioner and convection microwave off the Honda 2000i, I can't see how that's possible. You'd need twice the power that generator can deliver.
P.S. I finally found out how to upload the file! I just noticed that I didn't list a microwave which would require about 1000 watts (8.3 amps)
