Just an FYI in case anyone has a similar problem ... We used our water pump for the first time this past week in one of the state parks. This was the first time we haven't had a water hookup on site. We had an awful time with air in the lines, and I couldn't figure out where it was entering the system. It was so bad that I was afraid to turn on the water heater for fear of burning up the element.
Today I finally figured out the entry point was a loose connection where the debris strainer attaches to the suction side of the pump. I probably loosened it last fall when I was yanking on the hoses during the winterizing process.
