If you are an Ohio resident with a Golden Buckeye Card, you can camp at state parks with a 50% discount during the week. Weekends or holidays you can get 10% off. Prices are already very reasonable, but at half price - a great deal. |

We have reservatoins at Cedarbrook for Labor Day weekend and the following weekend too.
They have a special where we don't have to remove the Pod in between weekends and the second weekend has a pig roast.
We can't wait to get our unit

If anyone goes to Hueston Woods State Park the campsites do not have water or sewer hookups. There is fresh water available and a dump station at the exit.

Big Bone Lick State Park in Kentucky is very nice. It's maybe not an hour from Cinncinnati, just off I-75 and not a bad road to navigate. It's a natural Salt lick and mammoths lived there. There's a museum and it had electricity and water. I want to go bsack there.

We decided on Cedarbrook, based on the info here. It's been a nice place for us. I explained when I made the reservation that this would be our first time parking the RV. They were out of pull-through sites, but she did reserve us a very level site. When we arrived, we were escorted by a man on a gator. He helped us back into the site. That was extremely helpful! There are two bathrooms in the campground. One is just toilets and a sink. It is very rustic. The other, which has showers is very modern, clean and air-conditioned. The pool is very nice, too.

We live about 6 miles from Big Bone State Park in KY. It is a nice park with fishing, swimming, mini-golf, a herd of Bison, hiking trails and a small museum.
They offer full hookups and a general store too.
I would estimate 25 miles south of the Ohio River and Cincinnati.

We bought our 175 from Jeff Couch and stayed at Winton Woods after we picked it up. Winton Woods is operated by the Hamilton County (Ohio) park district. It's a little over 10 miles from Couch's. The campground was just remodeled this spring. They have full hooks ups and pull through and back in sites with 20/30 and 50 amp service. Here is a link to the Winton Woods web site. http://www.hamiltoncountyparks.org/rec_camping/wwcamp.htm They have a camp store with RV supplies and lots of shopping near by if you find you need anything.

We have taken the pod out twice now. First was at Cedarbrook and as reported earlier, a great place. The following weekend we stayed at Big Bone. I stand corrected about the Big Bone full hookups...they have water and electric only.

Spend a few dollars and buy a woodall's directory. North America,Eastern, or Western or regionals. List all approved campgrounds in the country. Or go to www.woodalls.com.
Private campgrounds show rates public don't. The north America is over 2100 pages. |

We made reservations for Cedarbrook for the night after pickup- maybe take in a Reds game as well. Then the plan is to drive through Pennsylvania stopping the next night at a KOA just to see what that is like and to see what $60 gets you. I am fully prepared to have that be the last KOA we stay in due to price. |
