Hi Steve,

I guess I never thought about trying them out here first and street noise may be just enough. Hopefully we can also "sneak" up on them they have good dog-dar but we'll get some reaction for sure.

We've always been able to leave Paige alone in our house for long periods of time without any problems. As far as I know she just sleeps. We weren't sure about leaving her alone in the r-pod because it's new to her. We "broke her in" by putting her in the pod when it was parked at home. We increased the length of time we left her alone in the pod until we were up to a couple of hours. Never a peep from her. We sneaked up on her a couple of times and watched her through the window. Every time we looked she was sleeping like a log. Then we started leaving her alone for short periods while we were at campgrounds.
 
On our trip the past week, we left her for 6-1/2 hours. We left the A/C on and she had plenty of water. We also left the TV on for her entertainment pleasure. Our campsite was directly across from the office (KOA Kampground) so before we left, we told the manager we were going off for awhile and gave her our cell phone number in case Paige started barking. The manager promised to keep an eye on her. When we came back, Paige was sound asleep in the spot she's claimed as hers in the trailer (streetside dinette cushion). The manager said she never made a peep the entire time we were gone. She did insist on a trip to the Dog Walk area right away (Paige, not the manager LOL).

I  think our dogs by breed like to be on trails, they would be half way to Calgary if we let them go though so they're always on leashes.

We are going to try a couple of trips with them to see how well it goes. Neither one of us wants to consider leaving them alone in the trailer but we will try it in small steps like maybe a walk around the RV park without them just to see what they do.

Yes, Dudley goes straight for the pod and not for the car when we go out the front door...he loves to go anywhere and do anything...except in rain...or when he could be napping :)

Our two dogs, Elvis and Harley, have now been Pod-dogs for about a year, and they love it!!!  They know when we're packing up that we're ready for a new adventure.  They loved all the folks at the ERU!  Harley still can't really figure out the going up the stair into the POD, and tries to leap up in a single jump, which is a bit of a challenge for him.  They both quickly figured out they can sneak under the tent material and go visiting so they have to be tied or in crates unless they are in the R Pod.   They both love hiking, and are OK with the kayak (see photo of me and Harley really working hard at Greenbo Lake in Kentucky) but NOT ok with swimming or walking in the rain and they hate really cold weather.

What a cute dog! I love small dogs and non-barky ones are the best!

Our girls are kind of barkers unfortunately, they are on patrol far too much so camping will be a new experience for them, I imagine a few sleepless nights if they hear something.

We will probably bring a fav blanket for them and tuck it under the table if we sit on the other side to watch TV or read. I don't know how well they'll do in the RDome but again it will all be new for them. We will also have their travel case (big enough for two small doxies) Last time we camped we were half way back down a mountain trail when we go caught in a torrential downpour. We had raincoats of course they didn't; talk about two of the soggiest dogs you've ever seen and grumpy too.

I actually have 3 dogs but after trying to camp 3 times with all three of them, I now have a pet sitter come for the two girls...one is a chi/corgi mix and the other a border collie/shep mix...very reactive barkers and the big dog really can't be left alone...separation anxiety Confused issues!
I also bring a couple blankets for Dudley and of course he loves to sit on my lap at the campfire...

We'll have to see how much of a difference the risers make. Our dogs are also far too independent to a point of frustration so we need to have leashes on them at all times. We'll probably just open the door and place them on the floor first like we do at home (I know we are their monkey servants sometimes) Smile
