We looked at R pods last week & were very impressed with them. We have a Toyoto 4 Runner 6 cylinder & were wondering how the 177 model would tow. Also, how well built are they, realiability, etc. We do not know anyone who has one so really don't know anything about them. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated. Thank you! Barbara S.

We bought our 177 in April and have had it out 3 times including the trip back from Couch's where we picked it up. We like it and have had none of the issues with the systems that you may have been reading about on the forum . . . the A/C doesn't leak, the refrigerator produces 19 degrees in the freezer and 42 degrees in the refrigerator on 95 degree days on setting 1, no pinging from the propane tank, no leaks from the rear window. It's performed absolutely flawlessly. Our only complaint is with the fit and finish (e.g., dome that's nearly impossible to put up until I changed the screws to the correct ones) but that's typical in the RV industry and it can be fixed.
Can't comment on your tow vehicle since our is different. Like many, ours is rated at 3,500/350. I think yours may be that, too. So far ours has performed without any problems. We have a weight distributing hitch with sway control.
Would I buy another one? At this point with the experience we've had so far, yes.
Our big test is coming in a 2 weeks. We're heading for a 2,500 mile, 3 week trip to Grand Teton and Yellowstone National Parks. We'll be staying at KOA's in Jackson, WY and West Yellowstone, MT. Our goal in retirement is to visit as many of the national parks as we can get to. This trip will tell us a) whether our r-pod is something we want to do this with and b) whether our tow vehicle will do the job.
As a reference for pricing at your dealer, we paid $13,600 at Couch's. That included all the available options (TV, microwave, r-dome, axle risers, A/C). It also included the weight distribution and sway control hitch. It did not include the brake controller which you will need to get.
Go for the 177. You will like it.

We picked up our 2010 175 in June. This is our first RV that we've owned. We tow with a Dodge Durango V8 and have no problems. Traveling in the R-Pod is tons of fun, I would have no reservations about purchasing another one or referring someone else to purchase one. The 175 has 1 slide out so there is plenty of room for the two of us and the ease of towing the Pod makes it attractive. My only problem is that this thing called work interferes with our lives so we don't have quite as much time to go podding as we'd like to. :) :) But, we've been on 3 or 4 small weekend trips so far and are really loving the pod.

We have a173 and just came home from 11,000 mile trip. the only problem we had was the milage
we spent a small fortune on gas 9 miles per gallon. Other than that we had one issue .The bed was
very uncomforable. We took a air mattres but it had a little hole..
When we came home my husband cut up a 3 inc memory foam and put it in the side pillows and the left over he cut to fit the bottom.
We have another trip planned hopefully we will get to go. Happy Camping

We luv'd our 177. It's the perfect lightweight towable TT.
There are a few issues, but owners seem to get them addressed. For two ppl and perhaps a pet or two that prefer traveling we highly recommend them. |

How about your gas mileage?? Which model do you have? The feedback we are getting is that gas mileage drops about 45% to 50%?? How is the quality, etc. We are also looking at the Trailmanor (hard shell pop up) - but much more expensive, but suppose to tow great. Really appreciate the feedback. Barb S.
