Van Gogh would love the art. But between the dark pick and the so-called drawing, and my limited knowledge of electronics, I don't know what you're talking about! Could you explain what I need to do, in simple step by step terms, where I can buy the stuff, etc. to achieve the end results your describing.

I followed this idea as I am "borrowing" an R-pod for a work situation and did not want to do a major mod I could not easily reverse. I have some pictures but they came out kind of dark. In this pic you can see the 12VDC female plug I got at ACE Hardware and wired into the light over the sink. I then plug the inverter into the female 12VDC plug. Then I plug the 2 prong TV plug into the inverter and switch it on. I ran some jumper wires to the light from the female 12VDC plug as the existing plug wires were not long enough to reach the light. Again this is a temp setup. If this were my trailer I would mount the inverter to a solid surface and hide all the wiring. This setup sits in the cupboard above the stove. So far I can watch 2.5 movies before the battery is depleted, so around 6 hours. The DVD/Radio does not seem to use much power. The bathroom fan and the furnace fan however seem to kill the battery in about 30-40 min which seems laughable. I guess R-Pod figures you will run a generator or always have shore power.
In this very artistic drawing I actually reversed the positions of the male and female 12VDC plugs. The female end comes from the light, the male from the inverter.

Good idea. I was always disappointed by the fact that the radio was inoperable in DC-only mod while dry-camping. It's not like that on my other camper.

Just wanted to share a quick and easy mod I completed last night. 2010 172 BTW.
I am not a big on mods and what not, but the issue I had was that I wanted to be able to watch TV/DVD/listen to the radio in campgrounds with no hook-ups late at night (so I would not have to run my generator).
so...I bought a tiny 150watt inverter, a 12v receptacle (no the wall mount type, a simple 12v female plug with 2 wires off it, complete with cap for when not in use). I did not even need to cut into the wood to access the 12v lines. I tapped off the light above the stove, whose wires can be accessed by unscrewing the 4 phillips head screws holding in the light. The 12v receptacle wires can be routed through the factory hole already existing for the TV's Plug/Coax cable.
That's it, the inverter sits in the cabinent above the stove and now powers the TV combo perfectly!
FYI, i opted not to buy a pure sine wave inverter, i bought a mod sine wave Wagan for 27 bucks.
150 continuous/300peak. Although i believe the TV combo probably is using only around 60-80 watts.
