You can't miss Copper Harbor. It's the end of the road. US 41 comes to and end just outside of town. There's a sign there pointing back the other way that says "Miami 1990 miles."

Lake Fanny Hooe Resort is the nicest private campground I've ever been in. Everything is freshly painted and scrupulously maintained. The sites have power and water, and there are some full hookup sites with cable TV. WiFi is available at the community building, but we were able to get it at our site. The showers and bathrooms are in excellent shape and clean as a whistle. There's a laundromat, some arcade games, and a fireplace at the community bldg. Also a playground, community fire ring, and charcoal grilles.

They have a small swimming beach on the lake as well as canoe, fishing boat, and paddle boat rentals. The lake bottom is weedy, but the water is crystal clear, and the fishing is reportedly pretty good. Firewood, ice, and bait are available at the camp office.

Copper Harbor is within walking distance and has quite a few quaint shops, a bike shop, kayak and canoe rentals, restaurants, and trips to visit the lighthouse or Isle Royal. Take a drive up Brockway Mountain for a panoramic view. Lots of bike trails in the area, and you can visit Fort Wilkins too. There's a pretty well stocked little grocery store with an ATM, and a single gas station with old pumps (and cash only please, which is why I mention the ATM).

This lake is the way I remember them being when I was a kid. Some normally sized houses and cabins, lots of trees, and folks out float fishing. Not surrounded by McMansions and peppered with jet skis. The town is the same way. Many mom and pop stores and little motels. There are no chain restaurants, big box stores, or nationally known hotels here. No casinos, waterslides, or roller coasters. It's quiet here. Your cell phone won't work.
