We replaced our queen bed with a 6" memory foam matteress. It is so much easier to change sheets and more comfortable. Being 2" lower it gives a little more room because of the curved back wall. The mattress is envromentally friendly made and read in a review at Walmarts web site that it is made in Indiana same as the RPod. The cost was about $230 dollars. Perhaps Forest River should consider a replacement for the mattress. Smile Happy Camping        David and Danette

We put the 4 inch memory foam from walmart $93 on top of the existing matress and it is sooo comfortable, I was afraid it would be to much with the curved back wall but it was not and I am a lil claustorphobic. also queen sheets fit perfect and tight over mattress and foam.Tongue

We also placed a 4 " memory foam topper on the mattress.  My wife says it sleeps better than our king size pillow top at home.  We both find it easy to sleep on.

We replaced the mattress  in our 171 with a mattress from IKEA, it is much more comfortable and easier to put the sheets on.  In addition, it is easier to raise the bed platform to access the under bed storage and water heater.
