This spring I noticed some spider lines along the door side at the back of the pod, near the tubing going up the side. Found out the screws from the factory were the cause and would be fixed at the end of the camping season. Well the end has come.... The lines were fixed under waranty by FR at a local rv and auto place. All things were handled by BMG (rv and auto place),Travel-Mor Ottawa, and FR. The work was EXCELLENT.. they cut out the spider lines and you cannot see where the repair was done... and I looked very close... I cannot say enough about the way things have been handled by Travel-Mor of Ottawa and FR. I am very glad I am in their family.

We had some spider cracks noticed just before the Goshen rally, Saturday as we were leaving to come home we swung by the factory and they took care of them on the spot(ish) I mean they did it right there, took a couple hours. Was great.
The conduct and care of the FR team at the rally is THE main reason a Camplite 21RBS is not in my driveway right now. |

In the Corvette world, those are called stress cracks. I have an old Corvette and neither it (after 46 years) nor my rpod (after 3 years) are showing any cracking (knock on wood).
I understand the formula and the chemicals used to fabricate fiberglass parts for automobiles and RVs have changed a lot over the years. What's used today seems much thinner to me than what was used in the "olden days". Just eyeballing, I'd say the fiberglass on my rpod is about 1/2 as thick as what was used on my car. Whether this contributes to premature cracking, I don't know. -- Steve |

I was told it was because during manufacture, some of the screws were put in to tight (peumatic drill set to high??)and pushed the screws to far coming out at the fiberglass.. No matter the cause, it was fixed very well. The repair folks also found 2 more bumps but didnot fix them as they aren't cracked as of now. FR and my rv place have that on file and if anything happens down the road those "bumps" will be fixed under warranty. I also have a letter stating that.. just in case.... lol. Can't kick on that.

About the only year I knew of Corvette's having stress crack issues were on the '68's right behind the rear tires,( the first of the Mako shark style). By 1969 (which I owned) the problem was remedied. Sure enjoyed all the fiber optics on the console in the 1969 to show which headlights, taillights were working and/or burned out.
