How do I unclog a black tank?  Thinner liquids empty through the sewer tube, but the bulk is staying in the tank.  Is there a chemical that I should add to the tank to encourage the solids to break down so they can pass through?  Right now the tank is 2/3 full of mostly water from me trying to flush it through the flushing port.  I dare not attempt to flush again until the clog is removed/dissolved.

Some people add Calgon. Others put a bag of ice cubes in and then drive around a bunch. You can buy a neat accessory that allows you to backflush water under pressure through your tank outlet. Always fill tank before emptying. We try to minimize logs by using park facilities when possible. Keeping bacterial digesting chemical in there on regular basis would help. Hope these ideas help. Prevention on regular basis is best.

When we got our 179 and were doing the walk through the service tech said they use a product called RV Digest-it for this type of problem.  It is a tank treatment that has bio-enzymes in it.  The product labels give instructions for this very problem.

Calgon is a perfect solution.

Happy Camper Organic(powder) is a a great enzyme type tank treatment and will eliminate a "poop pyamid" ......It liquefies tank con-tense....
Tank Tech has one as well that is a liquid and can be a bit messy but it is very good too.....
