I have a 179 with a trailer hitch that FR says holds 150 pounds... it seems not that strong... i thought i would add an after market frame mount that would hold better weight and distribute weight on frame rather than that 1 1/2 inch welded to frame... Draw-Tite has a great solution it seems... it will be for bikes only. Can any one tell me why i should not do this? It is way stronger than anything... the frontracks SUCK from Jack-it.
Link to hitch: Hitch Draw-Tite It balances the weight also as the 179 water is up front and we dry camp. Thanks |

I suspect the frame itself isn't strong enough. Most people who go this route, reinforce the current hitch mount. Adding a class IV hitch to the back of the pod might be a big issue if someone later actually thinks it's strong enough to load up..
Also.. ANY frame modification voids a lot of warranty points. |
