That adjustable hitch with sway bar tab is Item #7390 and is on sale for 140 bucks on etrailer.com.  6000 lbs rated, excellent hitch.

The most expensive part of sway bar install is a good adjustable hitch with a welded sway bar plate that small sway bar ball mounts on.  etrialer.com sells them and that was the best purchase I made.  I don't care for the bolt on sway bar plate, I wanted a solid, bullet proof hitch.  The sway bar is 50-75 dollars, the hitch is around 200, but well worth it.

I pulled a trailer before my 171 without a sway bar and guess what? It swayed! Not the case now. I recommend one. Like mcarter says, it's good to have that sense of comfort.

I have a 178 and tow with a Silverado 4X4.  Any of the available friction sway bars work well and give me a sense of comfort.  They all work the same.  I agree you have to be careful to not overtighten, when to disengage in very slippery road condition and don't reverse with sway engaged.  They all operate and are attached in the same way.

I have pulled my 171 hundreds of miles in every conceivable wind, from gusty to flag-shredding, and I have had no issues by not using a sway bar.  The short tongue/hitch helps it track well behind my 2013 Explorer and the 2006 Saturn VUE I had before that.  Sometimes there will be a slight rhythmic sway a few inches back and forth at higher speeds, but I have never had any sway that concerned me.  Just my opinion from nine years of experience with a 171.

Hi--Bruce here.  I'm a rookie to this world, but I was sold an EAZ lift sway control by CAMCO.  It's a very simple friction plate with a crank-down plate.   I have had no problems with this.   The R-pod tracks great.  I'm pulling with an elderly tundra 1/2 ton--no sway at all.  my R-pod is 3100 lbs empty.  the sway bar adjusts by feel--don't have to really crank down on it.   All the best, and have fun out there, Bruce
