I put this post in Mods too but didn't get any answers so I thought it might get noticed here...After cleaning the bathroom in my 2016 171, I was thinking how it would be to remove the little sink to make more room for showering since I don't use the little sink. Then, I realized I don't use the shower either. It's just too tiny and too much trouble. I've never used it. Then I sat down and tried to imagine how it would be to remove the entire bathroom. It would create a ton of space and I could still use the outside shower if I wanted, and add a compost toilet if I wanted. Since it's just me and no woman to please, it might work. Please let me know what you think, like I'm crazy or what!! I realize it might deduct from the resale value, but with it modified to improve it, it might even improve the resale value and make me not think about selling it at all!!?

Sorry Oliver, not a fan. Won't even touch on resale value, just how many people share your exuberance. Folks today are not as adventurous and want bathrooms even the cramped ones. I like mine and agree the sink is useless, I use the kitchen sink to shave brush teeth. If you did it, keeping it may be the only option. To me it's like buying a car then deciding I want a convertible, so I took a torch and cut the top off. Also think about wiring, plumbing, tanks, the updates, too much worry.
I looked at a 1961 Shasta today, for 5500, no bathroom, and what a canvas for a remodeler, weighs 1950 lbs, you could sell your Pod and begin a masterpiece.

OK, you talked me into it. Thanks. I was ready to rip the whole thing out. I have taken the little useless sink out and the door off to replace with a curtain. But that's all I'm going to do.I want to use it for a while, but you're right, I dont want to destroy it.

The sink is relatively a nuisance and I know I have to watch my door when I close the slide. When and if I remove something from an item, I keep it in the corner of my building for the future. There's a ton of old travel trailers for sale for folks who like to tinker and when you're done they are pretty cool. When I was a kid we camped with a chemical toilet on our converted bus.

I appreciate your helpful comments mcarter. I don't have a slide on mine, I purposely didn't want one. I've found that one little thing of removing the door is an improvement. It's so small a space the door wouldn't even open all the way. Of course, I'm saving it in the event I need it in the future. And taking out that tiny worthless sink is something small. But a big improvement. I'm fascinated with the idea of a compost toilet.I just can't bring myself to crap in my nice clean camper! But that's another project I need to think about.
