Anybody know of a good 30A surge protector? I notice there are a lot of different brands and prices. What about theft?

I have an inline protector.  Bought it at Camping World.  Haven't seen one at box stores.  RV places have them.

Ok thanks. I am looking at a Surge Guard, but they are expensive. What do you do if you go to a campground, and the thing either cuts the power off or says you need to. Then you're stuck without a camping spot. I don't know how they work, but sounds complicated.

Oliver I have a CAMCO Power Grip Power Defender 30A, positive I got it at Camping World.  It is an in-line power detector, has Incoming Power Light, Power Up/Power OK Indicator, Over/Under Load Indicator and HOT/Neutral Reverse Indicator.  I looked hard at installing a surge protector in the trailer, but my 178 has limited working space in bottom of slide-out and I just didn't feel like engaging in a big project.  So I'm satisfied with this one.

There seems to be a lot of them out there. Some of the reviews are scary. What model number do you have? How much are they?

Oliver - a little less is this:  Camco PowerDefender Circuit Analyzer with Integrated Surge Protection and Indicator Lights - 30 Amp Male to 30 Amp Female (55310) I have one of these too.  About 65 bucks.

I don't care about the cost as much as I do about quality, and will it work. I prefer one made in USA. I have read reviews of them melting, burning up, almost making the RV burn up, and not lasting very long.
