We have a 2008 sienna with the Tow Package - check with your dealer to see if you have it (it includes the trans cooler, larger radiator, wiring for lights for sure). We just bought the 172 and are picking it up Thursday. The hitch does ride low on it. I'll let you know how it all goes.

The hybrids are for the most part optimised for fuel economy rather than performance. The Toyota Highlander hybrid pulls a decent 3500 pounds. The Ford Escape hybrid however is rated at a measly 1000 pounds!
Our 1996 4 cylinder Jeep Cherokee proved not to be up to the task. We traded it in for a 2006 Jeep Liberty 4wd with a 3.7L V-6 engine and the factory towing package. It's rated class III, 5000lbs.

I have been told that our 5 speed, 2007 Toyota Tacoma 4 cylinder truck will do fine pulling the R-pod. It is rated at 3500 lbs but after reading the posts, I only see 6 & 8 cylinder vehicles and some of these are talking about some strain. Any insights? We are on our way to the dealership....

We pull our 172 with a 2007 Nissan Frontier SE 4x4 V6 with Class III Hitch and Prodigy P3 brake controller. It's got a 4.0 V6 rated at 265 HP, however, I wish I have a small 4.5L V8 instead. That, IMO, would be ideal.

We have a 2005 Ford Escape, and we had no trouble driving ours 300 miles home yesterday! (It's rated 3500 pounds) No sway with passing semis or anything. It did have to work a bit to get up hills, but really no different than when towing our tent trailer in the past. The most difficult thing for me was getting used to the brake control!
I had to laugh last night.... We had gotten off the freeway to get gas, and a lady in a truck pulled up next to us and yelled, "you're going to need to come see me soon!" I couldn't figure out what she was talking about, and then I realized she had transmission repair on the side of her truck! I thought it was really funny! I yelled back that it was only 2300 pounds, and she was shocked!
