What is the difference between a regular LCD TV to the one I got with the POD? I'm not concerned about the DC option, but rather if and LCD would be as durable as the Jensen we got with the POD. Both TVs would be wall mounted and will be secured when travelling.

I don"t think there would be a differance. The LCD that comes with the RPod is not a special TV for RV use. We changed ours because the screen was to small. We changed to a 18.5" Toshiba, when we are not camping we use it our bedroom. We added a shelf to set it on in the RPod, when we are traveling we lay it flat on the bed.      David and Danette

We deleted the TV option from our 177.  It was WAY to expensive and as a 120v unit could only be used when that was available.

Still, while not a priority, I've thought a TV might be nice.  I could watch movies on my 14" laptop if I wanted to, but truthfully the whole point of camping was to get away from all that stuff.  I have a Dell Mini-9 that I bring if I decide I want to get on the net while on the road.

I don't plan on hookups much, so 12volt had a lot more appeal.  I looked at car/van video, but they were all monitors (no tuner) or scary expensive.

Then I saw a neat little LCD TV at Costco.  It is a Eviant branded 7" LCD TV/tuner.  It runs on AC, 12v, or internal batteries (up to 2.5 hours per package).  Hooked to the R-Pod antenna we pulled in all sorts of stations with the Pod parked at home.  We'll see how it does on the road.

It's basic, cheap ($99) and has 3way power, with what appears to be minimal draw.  Good for the news and to pass time if we finish the books we bring and get rained in!

Now I just have to figure how to mount the little sucker on the side of the TV box over the bed in our 177.

The TV is mostly for the little ones. When we're inside and they need to settle down (and games and stuff wont work) the TV with a movie is an awesome tool. BTW, I haven't watched local channels of the air in a while. When we were at Dash Point State Park last weekend, we tried local stuff from Seattle - it was not even worth watching. I guess cable at home spoiled us. If I took that antenna off, would there be a hole up top?

I used my TV that came with my 173T a couple of weeks ago.  As long as I had the booster on, I was able to get the local channels just fine.

I even get them at my house, where I was not able to get decent channels in my house using digital tuners.

Yes, there would be quite the little mess to patch-up.  Besides, why take it off?  You may decide to sell your r-pod one day and the fact you've removed the antenna may devalue your r-pod.

You bet it is.  TV sedates kids.  We use it on our grand daughter but only when we are desperate and we sometimes are!

As Ive mentioned before, we went the "Sat-Go" (DTV) route which fills alot of needs for us while camping.
We enjoys watching sports, son luvs his games, and a movie now and then is nice.
Considering the options it offers us, it was cost effective.
The only thing I need to investigate is if the unit can be connected to the Pods antenne in case of obstructions
with the dish. If it can, then we got the TV thing covered.
We may use the unit that came with Pod too, perhaps a "mod" placement would do the trick since we plan on
removing that cabinet over the bed.
