We have an 05 Odyssey. When we bought our pod, we towed it home 2000 miles and over the continental divide. We have the 171 and it towed fine. Going over some of the extreme passes. I had to drop the speed to about 40 mph. I didn't want to overdo it and tear up the engine or tranny. We know we are near the towing capacity and since we are looking at a more extreme trip through the Yukon to Alaska in the next two years, we have decided to upgrade our towing vehicle to save wear and tear on the van. If we didn't have to cross the mountains for our big trips, we would have stuck with the odyssey. I hope this helps.

Bottom line, I agree with Kenn & Outbound. The safety factor is so important. Going over the numbers for TV and TT will get you in the ball-park. Be sure what the numbers represent.(Dry weight). Being at the Maximum is not safe. WD and Stabilizer are added tongue weight. IMHO Class 3 is the ticket. Educated choices will set you free !!! (Balance helps too)
Just some things to consider .... its your choice bob. I think you'll do well.
