I installed a propane tank gauge. When I installed the gauge showed full for couple days. I did not use the propane at all. A couple weeks later, it shows empty. Does this mean some where between the tank and furnace or stove have leaking? As I understand this empty means that there is not enough pressure between the gauge and the pod. Or is this normal? I am afraid that gas is leaking in the pod. I opened the tank again, and it shows full now.

I've heard the gauges were not reliable. I use a hand-held device that weights the tank.

Just to be clear: You pressurized your propane system and then turned off the propane valve on the tank. You never used a propane appliance in your r-pod for several weeks. Using your gauge, you noticed that the pressure in the propane lines slowly dropped over that time. Do I have it right?
I also suspect that although your gauge read 'empty,' if you unscrewed the line from your propane tank, you'd hear a pop/hiss of escaping gas. If so, yes, this is fine and should be expected. There will be some extraordinarily small gas loss through rubber hoses and seals. Single molecules of gas escaping. |
