Thank you for your reply. The reason I was asking is that I am very interested in finding out the average tow mileage with an r-pod. I have a 21’ TT trailer that is 8’ wide, tall and around 3300lbs weight with options. I tow it with Saturn Outlook AWD and get 10 to 11 mpg on average with 3-4 people, 3-4 bikes and some light gear. Actually, we just came back from our first camping trip this year, about 350 towing miles total, and I got 10.5 mpg going about 60-70 freeway and some local roads mix, some wind. I would expect a better tow mileage with an r-pod due to its size, way better aerodynamics than my “barn on wheels”, and a less weight.

I am seriously contemplating replacing my TT with an r-pod for its overall mobility but would love to get a better mileage if I loose the space comfort (not to mention trade in $$ penalty) of my existing trailer. I guess I have to wait for more feedback from the members J

Just bought  a new 171 R-POd today with queen bed and the large dinette.  It is so cute.  Seems to have made a tear drop with many of the desired amenities.  I have a couple of questions?
Question 1 on sway bars:
Traded in a pop up camper which sways a lot when driving on the highway.  The R-Pod is doing it too. I pull it with a Honda Pilot does anyone have sway bars and find them to solve this problem.  How about recommending a brand, was told at the dealer that Reese was the best.  They have an adjustment you can set to allow a little sway to none.
Question 2  on bike racks
Had anyone bought I-Pods bike rack.  Does it work well? Or can you suggest a better brand alternative?  I believe R-Pods hitches between the car and the pod.

I share this with a friend who is taking it on a 3 month sabbatical trip around the US.  Any suggestions for her?  Thanks for your wisdom,  Jmillerclark   Tongue

By what I have seen not much difference with swaybars from different manufactures. Have you tried adding weight to the front of the trailer, that should help. We have a 171 and have no problem with sway as long as the trailer is balanced right. We have a swaybar but do not use it, have not needed it. I think that most others have not needed a swaybar either. If the trailer is loaded with to much weight in the rear it will sway. Best to have tongue weight about 10% of total trailer weight and have the trailer tilted a little lower at the front. Do not no anything about the bike rack. We love and have enjoyed our 171, it is a very popular model. Another reason for a trailer to sway is the rear suspension being soft or rear tires being low on air. But I think that your honda would have a stiff enough suspension where that would not be the problem. Hope that you enyoy you RPod welcome to the forum.      David and Danette

We have the bike rack.  Our dealership included it in our deal.  We are in Florida for a month and the rack has performed well.  Of course, my Rick, being Rick, has added bungie cords to the cords provided to hold the bikes on the rack.  It also has an adapter to fit into a a 2 inch hitch.  I don't know how much they cost.  We have one we use on our truck that cost almost $200.  I hope this helps.

Congrats, Jim and Linda.  We too have the 171 and love it.  Wish I had the white cabinets but there weren't any when we bought our Pod.  Great choice!

I pull my r-pod 173 with a hyundai sante fe 6 cyl. I added the e-2 by equalizer. I. have no problen in the wind or when trucks pass. The e-2 levels the vehicle and has antisway as well. Luv my pod. My dog Stone and I camp at least twice a month.

I took the tire carrier off the back and now have a swagman bike rack. I put the tire under the couch in the 173. This works very well.
