I realize that the receiver hitch is not rated for towing anything other than a spare tire but I have a 13 ft. boat on a trailer I would like to tow.

Has anyone upgraded their hitch to two a trailer behind the R-Pod???  If so, pictures?

Most states allow double towing. It's mainly the states along the eastern coast that do not:

Usually you can only tow doubles if the middle trailer is a 5th wheel type.

Additionally, I don't know if the 'Pod structure could handle the additional tensile stresses.

My 2 cents.

My dealer told me that the Pod's receiver is really only rated for the Pod's tire.  I suspect that you would have to have major steel work done on the frame to allow any real towing capability.
The rear receiver is so flimsy that I typically carry the Pod's spare in the rear of my truck. Give the spare a quick jiggle and you will see how little weight the receiver can actually handle.  One Pod owner mentioned in the Forum about having problems with the receiver carrying two bikes.

If you get underneath the pod and look at its frame,I think you would agree that towing even a small boat would not be advisable.  The frame seems strong enough for the pod, but I would not want to overload it inside or behind.  Some folks have gone to Alaska with a pod without frame problems, Which tells us it's doing the job intended.

Lark, going to Alaska is no different then going to your nearest favourite campground. The Alaska highway is in better shape than some roads in Canada or the USA.
