Well, we never really used our microwave last year when we bought the pod. Found out this spring, the microwave quits after 3 minutes- once the steam builds up it powers down.  Called our dealer yesterday since its under warranty for 2 more months. He called Forest River yesterday and they already replied, saying a new unit is on the way. I thought that was really fast service. I will just remove the bad microwave myself and take it to the dealer to swap with the new one.

When you remove your microwave will you tell us how hard it is.  I have thought that if it isn't too much work I may use mine in the house and then in the Pod as needed.  Love that thing!

My original post was on the first, the dealer called today (early) to say my microwave is there waiting on me, now that was FAST service from Forest River! It took 10 screws to get it pulled out, I was surprised at how much wasted space there was behind the unit. I will put the new one in this weekend and we're back in business.

Do you think it's practical to remove the microwave and reinstall a few times a year?

I don't think I would want to because of the way it's held in. All the cabinet wood just seems to be particle board and I wouldn't want to keep running screws in and out.

I sent the wife to the rv dealer on the way the to the Sunflower Cluster Dog Show, she picked up the new microwave and decided to install it herself later in the day. Turns out it was a different model.  The mounts were different and the trim bezel was a totally different size. So my wife went back to the dealer after unhooking to explain what happened. My dealer tried to contact Forest River to see what to do, but there was no answer. Without hesitation, my dealer instructed the mechanic to go out to another unit on the lot and pull it's microwave so we wouldn't be further inconvenienced.  It turns out that F.R. changed models and our old unit wasn't even available anymore, my dealer said he would just deal with putting a new microwave in the other camper they robbed it from. That is outstanding service to me! She brought it back to the pod and it fit right in.

We'll leave the microwave in the pod for this season but I think I'll "steal" it for the house in the fall, or whenever camping is over this year.  We are in the house far more than in the pod and I cannot afford to own two of them.  That said, I do love my convection microwave!!
Next year we'll just have to rough it.  Wink
