Greetings Podders,

At the request of DW, I have installed a string of LED rope lights under the street side of our rPod 176.  I brought the "plug" end up through the rear storage area, and in to the under seat storage, which is also where the street side 110 outlet (external) is.

I'm hoping to tie in to that power, hopefully with a 110 switch, wired like the "power at switch" example here.

In the end, I'd have a daisy chain of sorts from the external 110, to the switch, to my rope lights.  The switch would be mounted in the front wall of the bench, so it'd be easy to flip the rope lights on and off.

Does anyone see any issues with this?

Can I put another length of Romex in the external outlet, to start my daisy chain, then use a conventional "old work" electrical box to connect the power and rope lights to the switch?

My concern is that I'm approaching this as I would if it were in my house, and I don't know if that's correct.

Any other thoughts to accomplish the same?

Thanks!

I have no help to offer sorry, but I love this idea, my own DW will approve of this mod if you get it all sorted out.

Now I have this crazy idea of ground effects being installed under the pod!

david950 -- I added a new 110v outlet for a TV in my 175.  I have a picture I can send you if you want.  I used an old work box, and tied into the onboard breaker box.  I also used the "rectangle" type outlet and outlet cover to match the factory outlets.  Hope this helps.  Rob

We also moved the tv cabinet and had to extend the 120v wire to the new location using a single gang junction box.  It works just as if rewiring in the house.   This is according to Craig the electrical man in this house.
