Greetings - anybody have any recommendations for good campgrounds around Mt. Rushmore?  It will be our first big trip with our new RP176 this summer.  We're wanting to find a place to meet up with my wife's family.  Between us all, we'll have 3 kids ages 3-7.

Thanks!

Joe

We'll be in Mt. Rushmore around April, I'm not sure if we're going to dry camp or find a campground there. I'll let you know.

That place doesn't open until May though. I think we're staying at Cabellas.

Look under Passport America. They list some campgrounds that are 50% off. You don't have to be a member to find the campgrounds, but must join to get the discount. Less than $50, and in three or four nights, the membership is paid, good for a full year.

I always stay in the Custer area.  Some campgrounds open before May so check around.  It's a nice town, good food, and good location for most of the hills. Plus it has a small cozy town feel, even though it's a tourist area.
