Hello Podders,

I just added a post to the Roof Seal Maintenance thread.

There, you will see why there is a need for this:

And, the Outside Maintenance thread showing the the results of two great Meguiars products.

Here are some other thoughts.

Plenty has been said here about the mattress that comes with an Rpod. In less than 2 years we have spent 140 nights in our 171 and towed her over 8,000 miles. We have pulled her across the U.S. three times and and in a few days will embark on our fourth time. It will be our 32nd overall trip across our great country. There are many things we really like about our Rpod. The mattress and roof seals are two we don't like. After 69 camping nights in a row last fall, the mattress was actually hurting me.

I saw here how people raved about the Eurotop Innerspring Mattress. So we ordered one and put it in our pod a few days ago. This is how it arrived:

It comes rolled up in plastic:

You set it on your bed, carefully cut the plastic and out rolls a real mattress that doesn't require a foundation:

Pretty cool and it sure feels comfortable!

More thoughts:

-Our old RV didn't have a 110 option for the water heater. Don't ask me why (it wasn't a cheap repair) I added this:

-Also,an electrician told me to turn off the breaker at campsites before plugging in the power cord. He said to plug the power cord into the campsite power source and into the trailer THEN flip the breaker on. Doing so eliminates arcing that can damage the prongs on your power cord or the outlet at the campsite. I see some campsites now have a sign indicating that.

Well, it's getting late. Wanted to post this tonight. Hope it will help someone.

We're awaiting delivery of our 171.  However, we have ordered in advance the same mattress and it's still in its box.  Would love to hear how it sleeps.  Not a great sleeper now and need as much comfort as I can get to stay asleep.

Bob,

I'm not a good sleeper either - especially when my neck is bothering me, as it was from the original mattress. I should add we opted for the full short version even though the original was a queen short. Turns out I'm very glad we did. We thought a full would make for easier making of the sides of the bed and it does. What may even be more important is that as the Eurotop unrolls, the narrower width of the full enabled it to unroll OK. A queen may have been an issue with the taper of the back wall of our 171.

Bob,

We really like the new mattress. There is a huge difference. Have slept on it 4 nights as we are closing up our old trailer and preparing for another trip across the U.S.

More THINGS: One of our cupboard doors was not closing right. I noticed the catch was not lined up correctly. I aligned it and while doing so noticed one of the screws was a little loose. I then checked all of the hinge and catch/prong screws and found several others that were not tight. It is important to have them tight -not too tight as they are easy to strip. One was stripped and I replaced it with a little larger screw. If they are not tight, catches/hinges will work loose and it will become more of an issue.
