My only real complaint with our Rpod is the embarrassingly abysmal quality of the bunk mattresses. It's pretty obvious this particular floor plan was meant to be used by a family with smaller kids: the foam in the dinette cushions (where the parents would most likely sleep) is far superior to that pitiful salvaged foam used for the bunk mattresses. I did pick up on this before we bought our Rpod, and just assumed we'd have to replace the cushions after the first season. However, after only a few trips they're showing signs of being worn out and will definitely need to be replaced soon.
We really enjoy our 172 so far, with this one glaring exception. FR, you really dissapointed me here.

While I think you're right in thinking the bunks are probably meant for kids, I chose to sleep on one on our last outing rather than set up the dining table bed. I purchased one of the egg crate foam pads to put on top of the existing pad and slept quite comfortably. I've also heard that the memory foam pads are excellent for adding extra cushion for sleeping comfort.
