Hi, everyone! My husband and I are taking a trip through Great Smoky Mountains National Park this summer. We will be taking our r-pod (of course!), but we are going on a cruise, departing from Charleston, SC, for part of our vacation. During the time that we are on the cruise, we would like to park/store our r-pod someplace other than the cruise passenger parking lot. Do places exist that will allow us to do this? We would, of course, be willing to pay for storage.

We are fairly new to camping with a camper (third summer with our r-pod), and we aren't even sure if there are places that would allow this kind of thing. Any advice or suggestions would be greatly appreciated! Thanks so much!

Where did you want to leave your camper? The Smokies or SC?. I don't know where you are from so I couldn't tell which would be more convenient. However, there is a campground in Townsend, TN, just outside the park that would store it for you. It's called Misty River RV Park. There is a web site for them. Actually, it's my "go to" place to camp. That might be an option for you.

www.mistyriverrvpark.com. I think that's it, anyway

I can understand your concerns about leaving your camper at the ships parking lot.  However, like most large airport parking lots, security is a very high priority.  Most have scores of security cameras as well as roving patrols, to protect the travelers as well as their vehicles.  If security is your major concern, I would contact the cruise line directly and address  your concerns with them.  I suspect that many others have had similiar concerns.  If, however, it is not a security concern, then I would look elsewhere for parking.  Safe Travels.

I've stored Podterfly for a whole summer in a Storage RV Lot near state parks I wanted to visit.  Would go for the weekend hookup, camp at the state park then take her back.  Cost $30 a month which was a lot less then the Gas to make trips back and forth (150 miles from the house).

After you talk with your cruise line, you may want to look online for a Storage Place.  Maybe they will pro rate you for the week or charge you the month. but if it has security it may be well worth it.

My two cents

Still a work in progress, lots of pictures.
