Just came back from having my wheel bearings repacked and the mechanic pointed out a potentially serious problem. It appears our 16 months old 171 rear spoiler weatherproofing is all but gone. a real potential problem for water and soil to enter the space between the outer and inner skin. The servicing location said it would take about an hour to remove and reseal the edges of the spoiler. At $117/hr I immediately contacted Forest River and described the problem. They said to take it back to the delivering dealer and Forest River would cover any repairs even though out of warranty period. I would strongly recommend that we all check the upper and lower edges of the spoiler for any water/air gaps and seal them immediately to prevent any interior damage and/or contact FR for a warranty repair. Probably an annual inspection going forward seems to make sense. Hope this prevents anyone else from having a problem with leakage from the spoiler. Our spoiler was NOT added after delivery, but was installed at the factory during the original build. Safe Travels.

There is a still a sticker on our door that says that all seals should be inspected every 90 days. When we had the pod at the factory last fall, that was the first thing they did. Technicians came out with caulking guns and redid the seals. But this spring we noticed that our license plate holder had come loose and water was getting into the hole behind it. I think it's one of those things you just have to keep checking all the time. We are adding caulk and to our toolbox we take on our trips.

I have the same sticker and aware of the concerns.  That being said, Forest River will repair the seals on the spoiler even after warranty period is over.  I don't believe they will fix other seals after warranty.  I assume they know they have a problem.  I wanted to make all aware of another potential problem that is difficult to see from the ground.  I never would have thought to check that seal, certainly not after only one year.  Safe Travels.

What the caulk for the seams FR uses? The factory stuff is tinted slightly, I used some off the shelf RV sealent but it is bright white.  Our Pod is a 2013, 10 months old with black trim and harvest gold (light yellow) body, white caulk looks ugly.
