I have been having some problems with service on my 173. We picked it up on Apr 10th from Coates RV in Forest Lake, MN.  After a couple weeks I discovered a couple problems. We had a leak on the in line on the water heater. some of the LEDs were out on one of the tail lights, and some of the weep hole covers on the windows were missing. I brought the Pod into Coates in May and they fixed the leak. They said they would have to order the other parts. I have called them a few times and have gotten no response except the parts are on order. After putting up my R-Dome, I feel I have the wrong size. The one I have is 9X10. From what I have read it should be 9X11. The sides don't even clear the windows. When the Dome is in track, it is about 8 inches short on both sides from the end of the track. I called Coates to discuss this with them and sevice said they would look into it and call the next day. After 2 weeks I called back and they said this was normal without even looking into it. I disagreed and wanted the number to Forest River. I have now called Forest River twice and have not received a response. Is there someone out there who can help me? Do I have the right Dome? How do I get my parts? HELP!!!!!

The Rdome on our 172 comes up short on both ends of the track, and though there's no windows on the front, the back edge of the Rdome does fall across the back windows.

Same fit with our r-dome.  There's about 8"-10" extra clearance on the c-channel, and the dome obscures the windows partially.  Its a bit baggy in spots and the r-pod door won't latch open while the dome is installed.  Frankly, the fit is a bit poor, and I don't think its not a well thought-out awning/screen room; I suspect that it was added as an option at the last minute.

Make an appointment with the shop manager at Coates and go in and talk to him/her in person.  Be professional and don't go on and on endlessly about the communications trouble you've had; do mention that you've have trouble getting a response, but move on.  Focus on the goal of having your r-pod fixed.

Sounds about right for the r-dome - the fit and finish when installed isn't ideal.  We were in the sun last weekend and I discovered there is no heat protection on the dome.  Our EZ-ups have a silver coating on the inside which helps deflect a lot of heat up (its a radiant barrier).  I was hot sitting under the dome even with a fan blowing on me.  We'll try using ours one more time and then we'll probably go back to our EZ-ups.

We installed the dome this weekend and noticed a lot of heat build up.  You can open all of the windows, but without a breeze, it was toasty inside.  We were considering hanging a fan from the center support beam.

The tent is much shorter than the track and the door hits every time.  The Couch team just said that the door is rounded and won't poke a hole in the tent.  I think it will in time.

Even with the problems, I really love the extra room.  I like to put things under cover at night and can put in the bike, chairs, cooler, etc, etc and keep them out of the dew and out of sight.

Here is a picture of our 175. If you look closely, you can see the three dome snaps just behind the rear window and three more just in front of the front window. (I installed them myself.) When the dome is attached, it clears both windows; however, there is about 6-8 inches of unused track at each end. And yes, the door does rub against the dome when opened.
