Forest River is set to release two new r-pod floor-plans. Pricing has not been set but is expected to be slightly more than the rp-174/5 models. The rp-176 will have a 19" TV in the area shown as entertainment center....

RV Nation is the first to list the new floor plans for sale. Looks like they will be getting 5 of each plan in around late October. Pricing is $13,295 for the rp-177 and $13,595 for the rp-176...

I was at the Milwaukee camper show today!  The 177 is the best RPOD out there...bar none.  They kept everything I like about my 171 and added a slide out for more room.  My 171 has a 1 butt kitchen which is ok but the 177 is wonderful.  Way to go!!!  Linda

I'm strongly considering the rp-177. When I started looking at R-POD I didn't like where the kitchen was and said to my self why didn't they put it here witch they did.

I've read a few places they reasson why they didn't add bigger or more windows is to save on cost. But I'm really wondering why they don't put another window Dinette wall that faces the front of the R-POD. I know you can see out each side but not the front and there is just a dead wall space there. I realize you could put modifications in but its the only thing I don't quite get.  It's the only thing I wish they would add comming from the factory.

LP:
Im sure that a "front" window would have been really nice. But in some models there are bunks there, which may not matter one way or another, and in others there may be a kitchen.
Being as that surface is curved/sloped perhaps it may have been problematic in seals, and cost.

But as I contemplate the possibilities, the current floor-plan is quite efficient given the amount of room involved. Sort of like how you felt about the kitchen location till you saw the 177, then wha-la ... there it is.
I believe that the door-window mod will help to lighten things up in that area.

Welcome aboard Matthew .... hope you enjoy the forum !

I also would like to add my husband's opinion.  He thinks there is more storage space in the 171 than the 177.  The 177 is also a little heavier.  Personally I like the extra space.  Gracie, the 100 lb. yellow lab, takes up most of the floorspace when I am trying to cook.  We have the Rdome which is a blessing.  I keep the door open most of the time.  She stays out there most of the time except at bedtime.  Linda

I agree,

I Didn't consider how its curved/sloped in the front, becuase its has a curve or sloped in the back where there is a window. however you can not see out when your just sitting and relaxing inside at the dinette table in the front view.

but like somone else said the 171 works better for them as to me the 177 is best for me.  when I want to lay down and sleep I want the most comfort and not bunks or splits inbetween the cushions or deal with a blow up mattress to stow away and deal with.  I guess I'm just a big window fan when I can't be out side beucase of Cold, rain, heat or whatever else I want to be able to see Outside even when I'm not out in it.

the one thing that holds me back not enough windows however in seeing a few R-PODS including the 177 I'm 90% pleased in what I see.  Based on some of the MODS I've seen working with Storage Space and building extra storage doesn't seem to hard to deal with.

I agree that windows not only allow more light, but added ventilation when A/C is not required. better viewing area. Anyways thats my 2 cents worth. Hopefully forest river will consider it in the new model.  a few hundred dollors more wouldn't scare me away becuase of it.  the 177 is more costly than previous models and that didn't scare me away either.  Its somthing to consider.

LP:

I went out and checked the curve/slope of the r-Pod, and found that the back window is nearly flat at the point it was inserted. The front curve/slope seems to be more aggressive.
I too prefer to have a camper/tent/RV as "open" as possible when inside of it. And, I also like being inside with it closed up during adverse weather. It feels very secure.
Im actually looking forward to our first night-time summer-rain sleeping experience, and throw in alittle "distant" thunder for good measure. Nothing more relaxing !!!
We are keeping our eyes peeled for all mods here that deal with storage, and there are many !
From constructing compartments under the dinette, baskets under the seats, rails above the micro-oven, to the drawer below the fridge, the r-Pod Nation membership never ceases to amaze me.
We are having some mods done in the next few weeks, but that entails LP, Batteries, insect screens, mostly outside stuff. I need to spend more time "in it" to contemplate inside stuff, and Cindy is already doing the important stuff inside.
The saying "make the best of what you have" sure applies with r-Pods. We start with a great idea like the r-Pod, and then make it our own, in our own way. IMHO, Life isnt about a manufacturing line, its about what we do with what we're given.
