has anyone ever turned the mechanism so that the crank is sideways instead of to the front,  We have a jeep liberty and the rear spare tire make it hard to crank sometimes as it is close to the tire

Thanks

I was considering the same thing.  While mine doesn't interfere with anything, it's a little awkward to crank in the position it's in.  Since the three bolt holes are an equal distance apart, you can turn it whichever way works best for you.
