Hi, Rpodsters:

My wife and I are looking to get a couple of ebikes, and I'm wondering if anyone is carrying them off the back of your RPod?  I've found what I think is a suitable rack, but combined, without batteries, the bikes would clock in at about 130 lbs. combined (rack is about 28 lbs.).  Can this safely be carried on the back of our RPod?

Thanks!

I don't really know anything about carrying bikes in the back, most people seemed to mount the on the tongue. But anyway congrats, you are the first poster since nov. 25 2020

I have also been considering doing something to mount a couple of e-bikes on our RP177.  We have the rear mount factory installed spare tire carrier mounted on the 1-1/2" square section cross tube that connects the LH and RH main frame rails.  I don't think I would want to subject that structure to another 130 lbs.  I also don't think even if I was prepared to carry the spare tire inside our TV that I would mount the bikes without making some significant structural changes.
The approach I have been considering is to extend the frame rails by an amount that would allow the replacement of the existing transverse 1-1/2" sq tubing with a full 4" x 4" square tube that would serve as sewer hose stowage and also allow a bike rack to be installed.  My plan includes making rectangular sleeves to fit inside the existing frame to provide load spreader reinforcement at the joint line and either bolting or plug welding in place.
Not for the 'faint of heart' but is quite do able.  These are just my thoughts to maintain structural integrity but you may find it of some use.
