My family thinks these are pretty cool to eat when we camp.  It's an oldie but a goodie.

I take several layers of aluminum foil squares.  Onto this, I put a layer of sliced carrots, fresh onion rings, and several potato slices.  Salt and pepper this layer.  Now put another layer of the same and again, salt it all down.  Put a third layer and salt.  On top of everything goes a 1/4 lb. patty of ground beef.  Salt & pepper.  (This sounds like a ton of salt, I know.  But trust me; somehow most of it goes bye-bye in the cooking process.  LOL  It's almost impossible to over-salt this for some reason!)  Now gather the foil up and wrap it all - seal the packet well.  Put the packets into the coals from your campfire and cook until the veggies are tender and the meat is done.

Not very scientific and precise, I know.  But this is campout cooking, not quantum physics.  Big smile
I'd rather be Podding. :)

Ermmreally depends on how thick your vegetables are sliced and your meat patty is!  Usually hour or so will do the trick!

heh heh!

My dh usually cooks ours.  He says he checks on them after 1/2 an hour.  Sometimes they are done; sometimes not.  Can take up to 1 hour.  Depends on how hot the coals are, I suppose!
