SmileWent out for my 2nd trip of the year with the r pod 171 last week. two nice days temps in the mid 70s, and two days of rain and temps in the mid 30s. I noticed the last night when we were getting ready for bed that the lower walls at the end of the bed were pretty damp. I thought oh no I have a water leak, but I found none. I think it was water condensation. I was wondering if anyone else had noticed this. I feel it was due to the weather and the thru storage box that runs the widith of the camper. Happy camping Jim.

We took our rpod 171 at this past weekend for the first time.  Friday night was about 40 and then it rained on Saturday till about 5:00 PM then got cold down to 30.  Saturday night as we got into bed the bed was wet under the rear window.  The curtain was also wet.  I looked for a leak but did not see one.  Also we was up front by the two benches.  Our old camper did not do something like this.

I spoke to Couchs RV about this and I was told all RV"S do this if you cook or anything I guess that produces condensation. I was told if you crack a window it will eliminate this from happening or lessen it. Sounds like what happens in a car if the windows are up and its raining and no AC.  David and Danette

Condensation is something that happens a lot when there isn't ventilation.  One window cracked just a little will usually take care of it.  Sometimes you need cross ventilation by opening 2 sources of air.  Just having people in a camper can produce enough water vapor to cause this.

I'm don't think my problem is Water condensation.  We just took delivery of a 171 a little over a week ago.  We had memory foam over the mattress and found it was very wet under the rear window (not sopping but more moist than condensation).  I live in Florida and we have not camped in the unit yet.  I have an appointment to take it back to the dealer to check for leaks next Tuesday.  We've had a lot of rain duing the week and I feel it must be getting in some way.  I'll update this post with what I find after it is checked.

Where about in Florida?  I'm in Saint Augustine.  A lot of RV dealers now have a leak test where they pressurize the inside of the RV, then put water over the outside and look for bubbles.  I can't remember the name of the test but if they have it they will know!Big smile  If they don't have it check around to find someone that does.  I heard the usual charge is $50.00.  Well worth the money to find a leak!

We take ours out this weekend and they are predicting rain and large shifts in temp so should be a good test of the condensation vs leak thing.  I do think however that there is need for ongoing ventilation of the unit in order to minimize the condensation.  They are built so air tight that simply the breathing of two occupants can add condensation to the windows/walls. The dampness by the rear window is disturbing though.  I'll be interested in hearing what your dealer says.  Good Luck
Get out there.

We found that our RP 173 leaked at rear window. Dealer found that the seal was broken on the left side for about 8 inches. They resealed it and now it is OK.
