No, I haven't heard anyting about a permenant fix. Seems odd thought that three of us in here had the same problem. I made an appointment with the Dealer (Appleton Wisconsin RV Center) for Thursday. Now we'll see if they stand behind the product.

Hi all,
When we encountered this problem, our dealer offered us two choices; bring the Rpod back for repair, or install a replacement part ourselves. Rather than tow back to the dealer, I gladly took a replacement inlet fitting and replaced the broken one. Tonight, we returned the old part and mentioned the two additional instances that have surfaced here. The response by the staff was that the problem with the part went beyond Rpods. I didn't recognize the model name of the model that was mentioned. The discussion went to other subjects afterward.
The new inlet fitting will be tested beginning Friday, as we're heading to Point Lookout State Park Friday. The camp site will have electricity only, so an outside water supply will not be an option. Our intention is to get a local camping trip under our belts before heading further afield. I will post a trip report next week.
Regards,
Craig

In reference to the pressure regulator: you should ALWAYS use one! An RV's water system is low pressure, so all lines and fitting are low pressure. You add high pressure to that and it is very likely you will get water damage. This damage may or may not be covered by the warranty. It is not the duty of the manufacturer to test water pressure. I have been in hundreds of campgrounds while living full time in a motorhome and it is rare that a campground will advise people of high water pressure.
Picture this: you leave camp and are gone all day. Shortly after you left a spike in water pressure happens and blows a connection inside your camper. You come back to camp at the end of the day after having water running in your camper all day. You could have a destroyed camper on your hands. Terry |

Took the 171 in for warrenty servcie today on the water problem. They replaced the check valve. They said it was a bad valve. I told them that I had heard (from this formum) of other owners who had the same problem. They have only sonld a few units so far so had nothing to compare it to. We have it back now and they say all is well. They did replace the city water inlet valve with a screw type cover rather than the dust cover flap that originally came on it.

I think cleaning the apparatus at the end of the faucet in the kitchen may have cleared up the problem with no water pressure, I'll check tomorrow. Is there similar maintenance I can do with the shower. We went camping a few days ago and the shower will not quit running. It worked fine before, but after my wife took a shower, it would no longer turn completely off, either with the hot and cold knobs nor the off on switch on the shower head. As you can see I'm new to this and appreciate the help. |

We also had the problem of the valve being blown out the water inlet. It is a problem with the Rpods. I think they will have recall soon due to the inconvenience and so many having the problem. And we have used a water regulator each time we hooked up to water. we did nothing wrong. The dealer is mailing a new one to us to install our selves. David and Danette

I seen nothing in the rpod manual, as to the pressure allowed for the water system. I have a regulator that is 40 to 50 psi by camco. Will this regulator work safely. David and Danette

My 171 has not blown the city water valve out as yet. Guess I need to watch this closely. Someone mentioned leaving the camper all day and finding a leak at the end of the day due to water pressure spike. I recommend turning off the city water supply when the camper is left unattended for even an hour or more.
I used a water connector from Camping World which allows the city water supply hose to connect to it at the 12 O'clock position. This releaves the pressure of having a water hose connected to the Pod in a horizontal position. |
