Does your R-pod really look like that?

If you were looking at an actual picture, yes, it really does look like that. If you were looking at my avatar, well, not exactly. but I do have Tinkerbelle on it.

Most smaller -mid size SUVs or Mini vans are not really made to tow trailers no matter the dealers or manufactures say

Wow. That's quite a statement. Some folks on here may differ with you on that <g>.

I have had my pod since January and have went form mountain to sea camping at the least twice a month. I have not had any problem towing with my 2009 Hyundai Santa Fe. I have a Equalizer E-2 on my TV. That is a very broad statement. Have fun with your r-pod no matter what you tow with!

My 07 Dodge Nitro pulls well on the flats, Fredericksburg to Va beach / Nags Head.  I put it in "tow" mode.  This disables overdrive(4th gear ... kinda).  I pull at 65mph at 3000 rpms.  I would use my father's truck for any thing longer than 200 miles.  My mileage sucks, 13mpg.

Hi rpodmania

Thanks for your information, hopefully our being more of the "just-get-away-from-from-all" types for now may mean we don't have to hit too many critical hills just yet. My issue so far is the very subtle yet noticable "bucking" motion we have on 60km roads which is less noticable on the freeway but we haven't tried it YET on any hills so our "mileage" may vary as you say.

Any way this spring I purchased a used full size truck Ford F150 to pull the pod and its great and more enjoyable towing with a bigger more powerful truck

That's kind of what I was afraid of,  but you know you had to go through it and you survived, so maybe we'll have to do it too. I certainly hope I don't have to become a truck owner again but hey we need a replacement for our car, why not a truck this time. After all it's bad enough having to get back into the "camping" thing again AND tow a 3500lb retro toaster.

Enjoy the new R-pod!

I do hope so too and many thanks for your comments. I hope we can hook up some time soon.

On the recommendation of our ArrKann trailer expert he suggested we try Black Nugget Lake Campground as our first foray back into both the camping experience and being close by. We're hoping to try for next weekend.

If I have problems with my TV/trailer type that WILL be the first thing I complain about. They want me to tow something so why bullsh*t me, it will only backfire on them in the long run. But if I can tow this thing without burning out my TV and not end up frustrated by the whole thing then they've done a good job.

If not, then not only would I not buy from them again, then:
  • we'd be less inclined to ever consider dealing with the people that worked there again nor have anything to do with the company;
  • no matter what they sell we would boycott them unless we had to buy from them for some reason;
  • we would go out of our way to warn people about their sales techniques - the internet is a powerful tool nowadays.

But I don't want to say anything really negative until I've experienced this, that's totally unfair but as you can tell I am the ever present eternal pessimist; I think the worst yet hope for the best.

Thanks for your thoughts though
