Not a downer here rpod.
An opinion is always welcome here. I too was not totally "happy" with our towing experience either. Many times I mentioned "wish we had alittle more Umph!". We towed with a 255hp 6cyl and besides a little sway, it was ok. If asked, I always recommend a small V8. Something that's efficient when not towing. New small block V8s are getting just as good, if not better, mileage than '06 6cly. |

Hi, Welcome, Just thought I would throw my two cents in, Anyways, I'm from Calgary and actually purchased my 176 in Edmonton. I bought in the middle of winter and they gave me the best deal.
Just wanted to give my experience, I have an 07' ford edge v6, with a class 2 hitch. I've already pulled threw the mountains to Shuswap lake interior BC. I was very skeptical on how everything would turn out. Honestly, It pulled no problem, some of the bigger hills had some minor struggling but all in all had no problems, Also just having a basic factory class 2 hitch wasn't an issue either. (no sway issues etc). |

Hi and welcome! We recently got our 177 (in Edmonton too!), and have done a couple of trips. We came from a tent trailer, so have had a lot of learning to do, but this forum has been sooooo useful. I was posting questions on my iphone from our campsite and had multiple responses in short order.

Hey thanks, Bluebee, welcome to you too! Yup, this is a pretty good site, we used to run Geocaching Edmonton and we always enjoyed moderating and participating in the forums We're still waiting for the inaugural voyage (we need risers installed yet) and are totally new to trailers but we have 3G iPads/iPods etc. for the r-pod so well covered in the pod/pad area :) Hopefully we'll get away a few times before the year's gone- late August or September when the kids go back, less mosquitoes (ay caramba they are bad right now) and if the weather was warm like last year it might be really good. Maybe I'll see if any other Alberta podders want to join us. Tess |

Albertan Podders,
We would love to join (or help organize) an Albertan roundup for late summer/early fall. I am so envious of the other roundups and can't wait to get to one. We do a bit of geocaching as well so cool to hear that you ran the Edmonton group, Tess.
Just saw a Pod about an hour ago in my neighbourhood of Tuscany in Calgary. Would love to know who that was - looked to possibly be a 176 pulled by a red pickup (was travelling the other way on Tuscany Boulevard and I didn't note the make of the TV as I was focused on what it was pulling). I almost turned around and followed them but wasn't sure if I really wanted to start my career as a stalker. Hope they are on the forum and identify themselves.

I wouldn't worry about the stalking stuff. Everybody does it. We were stopped for gas on our way home from camping last week when a lady pulled up next to us. She said she saw our pod from the highway so she pulled in to say hello. She and her husband have an rpod and she wanted to take a picture of ours. She didn't know about the rpodnation.com forum so I told her about it and she said she'd get on the computer and check it out.

We'll be picking up our R2D-Pod hopefully this Saturday.
We love Drumheller! Pinter's campground is the best! Forgot to mention - I work in Calgary but live in Langdon. |
