Wait ... charts from 1998?
Sounds like we'll have lots to discuss in OH. There are rocks EVERYWHERE in Canadian Lake Huron and many lurk just inches below the surface. In fact, the HuronSailor's navigation rule #1 is: don't go where birds are standing.

The rule about birds standing didn't hold where we were unless there are storks in the North channel. There was only one day in the week that we didn't hit at least one rock. That wasn't bad enough we were nearly always under power. That was what ruined it for me. If I wanted to be a stink potter I would have gone with a power boater.
![]() I've been to the north channel around Killarny , Little current, the Benjamin's and that area was nice but where we were should be left to the power boaters. |

I've never been south of Tobermory, but I've heard from other sailors that the area where you were can be pretty hectic. Lots of "cottagers", I understand. And I've heard about the power boat traffic before, too. Again, all second hand.
But, those areas you mentioned having been are very familiar to me, primo cruising ground. We've flown our chute all the way through the Whalesback Channel - doesn't get much better than that.
I better stop now, I have hours worth of stories I could bore you with and we don't want to hijack the thread ...

Sandpiper,
So sorry about your trip. I know you were looking forward to it. Beverage Control Board? ME? You know better than that!!! Pepperpod just didn't want anyone getting hurt so I went along with it. I, after all, will not be cooking turkey. So I was going to be exempt. I hereby declare the MEN exempt too!
There, that ought to do it.

Don & I did not make the appointment, but it might not be a bad idea. Don can't wait to have a little liquid refreshment while that bird cooks. He said that would be his best contribution. (just kidding)

Need some discussion regarding food (not drink) . . . Tink, not sure if Taberella or Tom are monitoring the forum. What time should we plan to have the turkey? I'm sure some folks will be out and about so we need to plan a time. Also, could you suggest some sides that would be tasty? Does anyone have a special dish or dessert to bring or should be just pick up something at Walmart. Is there time to go to Port Clinton and return for dinner? Mary & Don |

Mary, I'm not sure what time to start the turkey. I think it takes about 40 minutes to cook. Then before that, the oil needs to get hot. Ummmm... 6 ish? I'll check with Ella and let you know. I would think there would be time to go to Put-In-Bay, you would just need to be aware of time and start back in time. There is so much going on while we're there. Forest River (that'll be a LONG day), Put-in-Bay, and making the video! How much better can it get? And since the ban has been lifted from alcoholic beverages, the men should be happy!

Food, we already have our meat, so we just need veggies and dessert. Mashed taters, dressing, green things. It could be something made ahead of time and put in the oven. Casseroles. We don't need anything difficult to do. Heaven forbid!

I like the way you think! We need to have fun - we can cook at home.

You betcha. I'm still waiting on Ella to get back to me about timing. But if it's all made ahead of time , it really doesn't matter.
