Subject: T@Bs at Eastern Roundup
Date Posted: 22 Jan 2010 at 12:02pm

Taberella has approched the Eastern U.S. Roundup committee to ask if it would be ok for other mailto:T@bbers - T@bbers to attend our roundup.  We have discussed it and came to the following decision:

We welcome the mailto:T@bbers - T@bbers to our Pod gathering in June.  Hug
They are going to have a "sister" roundup at Fort Boonesborough
We have suggested that they pick the area to the far side of the Recreation Hall in order to leave room on the Pod Lane side for any Podders who have not registered.
The mailto:T@bbers - T@bbers will be welcome to mingle with us.
We have invited them to our social gatherings.
They will be expected to follow the rules, of what to bring, as are set out here in the forum.
mailto:T@berella - Taberella is taking care of keeping a list of mailto:T@bbers - T@bbers and what they will be bringing to the Roundup.

We feel that Podders are very friendly, interesting, and caring people who will enjoy meeting this new group of campers.  The mailto:T@Bs - T@Bs should be of as much interest to us as our Pods will be to them.

Please feel free to comment.

Having attended several mailto:T@B - T@B rallies (a cousin has organized several in the last few years) and not being a mailto:T@Ber - T@B'er but a pop-up'er, they are great fun no matter what sort of camper you happen to be in!!  I think this is great!

I think this is a wonderful idea. Even more friends we haven't met yet!
Do the mailto:T@bbers - T@bbers have a message board like this one? I'd love to get to "know" some of them before the roundup.

I would like to ask you to refrain from making any posts, about the mailto:T@Bs - T@Bs being at our Roundup,on any mailto:T@B - T@B forums until Taberella decides how she wants to do the mailto:T@B - T@B gathering. At this point, I am not real sure how she is going to do it.

Thanks Hug

WOOOO HOOOO  The more the merrier.Party  I agree with keeping them separate from the Pods.  After all, this is a R-Pod roundup.    I think the T@B's look kinda like our Pod's at a "younger" stage in lifeWinkLOL

Perhaps trying to keep the Pods together would be kewl !

IMHO I feel that the 30+ R-Pods that have already registered for the Eastern R-Pod Round up should have been polled before this decision was made.

It will look very cool to have the pods all parked together otherwise bring em on!  We love T@Bs and campers in general.  All are welcome.  More fun, more food!

Grandpod,  I think we have a consensus here on welcoming T@Bs.  No poll necessary.

Great idea!  It would be a sight to have 30+ Tabs and 30+ Pods in one place. That's a lot of Podders and Tabbers to befriend. Lotsa fun for everyone and no "conventional boxes" in sight.

Careful there WE-2.  There is one site in and among us that was reserved long before we Podders started reserving sites.  They are in for the shock of thier lives when we all show up and surround them.  It may be unnerving when Pods and T@Bs keep popping up all week end.  Shocked

Maybe we will have to "rub hubcaps" with a "conventional box".  Tongue

And that's your two cents.

Yes to a certain degree all are welcome, but I'm with Grandpod not everyone has been asked. Secondly why travel from Canada, the north east, Wis etc to a place thats full of "ALL are Welcome" roundup, you can stay local save money and go to any KOA where ALL are Welcome.  This will be the FIRST R-Pod gathering of any size, (don't think forest river is interested in T@Bs) IMHO that's what it should be an R-POD gathering.  If the T@B's happen to have a rally in another part of the Park KEWL, and we can have a T@B and R-POD mixer .  T@B's have there own forums and rallies, and are GREAT people, but this is a R-POD ralley.

SO I know I will  be the unpopular one, so be it, not everyone feels free to express themselves, especially when the few that are vocal approve so quickly.  By the way a consensus is not 5 people (or so) out of thirty.
Of course this is my humble opinion.
So let the screaming at me  begin.

LeeClap
My vote is NO
If the T@B's happen to have a rally in another part of the Park KEWL, and we can have a T@B and R-POD mixer.

Whoever these campers are, I think we should invite them to join in with the social activities.  Camped in the midst of a group of podders who are talking, laughing, running around from site-to-site and taking over the loop's common areas could turn into a very bad experience for them.  For the sake of a couple name tags, sharing some food at the pot luck and calling them honorary podders, we could make it a memorable event.  Of course, it depends on the situation, the people and their reaction, but I'd rather plan for some good will and a good time for all.

It was my understanding that the t@bs are reserving sites in a location of their own and having a mini gathering for those who live in that area.  It is also my understanding that they have been invited to socialize with the podders but are not officially part of our roundup.  Since this is our first ever roundup and they have had many, figure during our socializing hours we could pick their brains for ideas for future roundups.

That is such a great idea!!

Just for the record, there won't be 30 mailto:T@Bs - T@Bs in the park. Just a few (maybe 4 or 5) of my sister's friends who happen to own a TAB who look for any excuse to camp and don't live too far away. She's not going to post in on their forum. She got permission from the ORGANIZERS to do this.
She just could have put out the word "Come one, Come All", but she didn't. They aren't going to be on our POD LANE but elsewhere close by.

Anyone could be staying in the park besides us.  It may as well be another mini rally of people with similar trailers to ours. We may also learn somethings since the mailto:T@Bs - T@B's have been around longer and may have come up with ways of dealing with some of our space limitations.

I look forward to meeting them.

Okey dokey,  I did say I thought it would be cool to have the Pods near each other.  Great visual impact and photo ops.
That said, how can having T@Bs at the park detract from the Pod rally?  Does anyone think T@berella should move to the other side of the park?   Unhappy   NOT ME
As for driving a long way for the rally, you gotta admit we are coming a heck of a long way for this.

I believe this is a great idea. Now let's be honest, many of us even thought about buying a mailto:T@B - T@B before buying a R-Pod. It was on my list like many of us. So, actually I am very excited to see them at the rally. And no one can say that it doesn't take an unconventionnal type a person to own a mailto:T@B - T@B or an R-Pod. Those are not white boxes.

I am traveling a long way to meet all of you and honestly I am more than happy to meet even more "kewl" people. The more the merrier :-) I am bringing my dad with me who is my handyman. Believe me he will love looking at those T@Bs . And by the way, be ready to answer 10 000 questions from my dad. He is curious about all the mods you made and why this and not that :-p

Having read some of the posts on your r-pod nation where people are concerned about having mailto:T@Bs - T@Bs in attendance at the roundup, I have had to reconsider continuing with these "joint" plans. It is, after all, your first east-coast rally, and it might just be best that you focus on R-Pods and each other and not have to worry about mailto:T@B - T@B  being present. It is a very special time for you guys as you plan this rally and set the tone for this roundup and future roundups; and I don't think there should be any controversy by any R-Podders to spoil the fun.

The only reason that this whole suggestion came about is because my sister was at our mailto:T@B - T@B International rally this past summer and I wanted to travel to Kentucky to camp with her at the R-Pod rally. (Kentucky is a half-way mark from her her house to my house, and it was just a very convenient and exciting meeting point.) Within 100 miles of Boonesborough I have many mailto:T@B - T@B friends, and it seemd an easy way to spend a weekend with them, also.

However, after reading some of the concerns presented here,  I feel that there might be a better time in the future where we can plan a joint mailto:T@B/R-Pod - T@B/R-Pod rally. I will say nothing to mailto:T@Bbers - T@Bbers about this roundup.  Meanwhile -- I have MY reservation for your rally and will still plan to "sneak in" and participate on the fun as I had originally planned. Thanks to your R-Pod planning committee that have made me feel so welcome.  mailto:T@Berella - T@Berella

Cry   Please reconsider.  If we have to we can take a vote but I really do think you are welcome as are your T@B friends.  It would be a shame to lose you and any other T@bers who want to come.  I'd love to see a T@B as I am one of those people who seriously did consider one before I got the Pod.
I think it diminishes us all to exclude people.

I think that we should drop the whole thing because the TIMING is just not right. Even if you "take a vote", it might result in TABbers showing up to a rally where some (even though just a few) R-Podders wish they were not there. I think once you get this roundup under your belt and look to the future, we will have plenty of time to plan some joint outings.

One thing I have figured out after 6  years of mailto:T@B - T@B rallies: there are just not enough mailto:T@B - T@B rallies in our immediate area to satisify my need for camping with a group! So, I tend to look at other groups (teardrops) or come up with crazy ideas to get several like-minded campers together. This time it just didn't work out.

But, as I said, I plan to be at your rally, and will certainly enjoy meeting all the R-pod folks and viewing the pods, and will be more than willing to make my mailto:T@B - T@B available for viewing.

Lets just leave it on this positive note for a future plan -- for now!

The way I see it, the park is not exclusive to just R-Pods, only a couple of rows, the rest of the park is open to anyone else.  If a "few" T@BS happen to be there, so be it.  It was thoughtful of taberella to let us know that she would like to invite a few of her friends to join "HER", and generous of the Podders to invite them to join in on our festivities.  We would love to meet and make new friends.   Approve

Since there is nothing so well worth having as friends, never lose a chance to make them.

As one of the organizers that discussed this option, I see no problem with the T@B's at Boonesborough.  Even with 30+ pod's in attendance, we will be far outnumbered by the 'square boxes'.

I did think it could be a little confusing at the social events when meeting someone you thought owned a pod, but instead owned a T@B.  In the end I saw this as no big deal.  I just make another friend with a different cool little trailer.

Ultimately the choice is not mine, nor anyone's on this forum.  It's up to the people that own the T@B's.  I will welcome any camper that wants to bring food, fun, advice or anything at the social events.

As a fellow organizer, I also see no problem with the mailto:T@Bs - T@Bs being at Boonesborough.  After chatting with Taberella through email, it was decided that the Tabbers would have a name tag stating that they are mailto:T@B - T@B owners, and it would also give their name.
I think Cindy has volunteered to get pin back name tags for the Podders.  With so many people signed up for the Roundup, we are going to need the tags.
