We are in dire need of a Video showing how to assemble an r-Dome !!!

Surely there are members who could pull this off. Given the right equipment (r-Pod, r-Dome, Video camera, Time) and pleasant weather (not raining) Im sure there are many qualified Podders that could produce a quality instructional type Video.
Be an over-night Video star on U-Tube(at least at r-Pod Nation) !!! We can upload it to You-Tube and post the link in the FAQs.

What a valuable resource for future Podders, and/or current Podders !!!

If you are remotely interested please contact me via PM or post here.

What ya say Podders ??? Enlist today !!! See the Dome !!! r-Pod Nation needs you !!!

PodPatrol,
Like rpoders2 we would love to make an R Dome video with dancing girls, free beer, talking elephants the whole sha bang but ---wouldn't ya know it we don't have a video camera and none of our friends or relatives have one either.  Proubly wouldn't loan it to us any way even if they had one.
Someone that has both the R Dome and the video camera and someone smart enough to run it will step forward I'm sure or they are already in production and can't be bothered while shooting the video to make a post.
THIS SOUNDS LIKE A GOOD MARKETING TOOL FOR FOREST RIVER DON'T YOU THINK ?
ARE YOU LISTENING FOREST RIVER ? HUH, HUH ?

PS: Yes they use elephants to put up circus tents don't ya know.  And, Hey Dudley could help.

rpoders2,
Here's the deal.  You show up at the Fall Ohio Roundup with your talent and video camera and Mrs Piper and I will show up with our tricked out canopy track, R Dome and R Pod and together we will make a super-- duper video of how to put up an R Dome.  I'll bring the beer --you bring the dancing girls and Tink and pepperpod can bring the elephants. Pam and Bob DeLay can be the movie producers and directors, Rick can do his couching thing and Phil H can sit back and tell everyone he has never seen any of us before in his life.  Tom and Ella will be moving  their T@B to a different State Park.

When it is finished we will enter it in the America's Funniest Videos and we will use the $10,000 first prize to have one heck of a camping trip.

Does this sound like a plan or what ?

ps: Tink you have everything else you might as well have a couple of elephants !

When sandpiper assigns a task, we must do it!!!   I know.  The Cincinnati zoo is not too far away.  I will check with them to see if they have a couple we could borrow for the weekend. Big smile  Clap

At 6'2", I don't need a step ladder to pull/push the rope end through the track. I'd be happy to help with the tall bits Wink. I'm sure we can fit this AND a trip to the factory into the weekend, Sandpiper.

Hey Phil,
After I installed the High Speed Flat Head screws into the Bored Out Track Holes in the canopy track the only assistance needed is for someone to stand at the opposite end and stop the R Dome from sliding all the way through.
I'm confident we would be able to accomplish the Plant tour and the R Dome (Academy Award Winning ) Video both in a weekend.  With the talent that is going to be there thats probably not all we will accomplish.
And pepperpod, I don't care where you find the elephants and I don't even care if they happen to be pink.  I'm just excited about the Roundup and all the happenings.

HUMPH!!!!! Elephants! Ya think Rosemary and I can't do anything! HUH??? Rosemary, if the Zoo won't lend us an elephant, I'll have to see what I can do!
Seriously, that's a great idea to do an R-Dome video while we are there. I think it can all be done. We have 3 days for it, after all.

OK, OK  Calm down.  We're just trying to make a memorable video.  That's all.  I guess we could do with out the elephants.  I just thought you would have some in your lawn "ornaments?"
We've got all sorts of time.

I guess we could do without the dancing girls too.  But the beer is not negotiable !
That, a video camera and the R Dome and we are home free.
Let's do it.
Podpatrol, have you had any other offers ? Did MGM or anyone from Hollywood call ? How about MTV or ABC or CBS ?
Well we don't need them do we team ?

Honestly, I came back to this thread to delete it cause I've missed the new posts.
This is great !!! I thought perhaps the poll options may had been a bit to "gamey". Oh, was I mistaken. How did elephants and weight loss get involved ??? At the ERU I didn't see any elephants, and no extra 30lbs.
Did I miss something ???? I think not !
Have fun with this, make it funny, serious, informative, or non-sense, just do it !!! It'll be a big hit !!!

I promise !!! LOL

Please incorporate the "mods" to make it easier to assemble. Perhaps perspective r-pod owners could address this issue w/their dealer to replace the track screws (or straighten them out) and making the track more flanged to help slide the r-Dome through it. The more insight the better.
Perhaps FR will address this issue if dealers are being asked to improve the r-Dome track.

Elephants or not, a video illustrating an r-dome set-up is just real cool.  If the video production occurs during the camping in Maumee I think I'll do the round-up just so I can witness the making of the video.  I think it has a real chance of being a classic.Thumbs Up

The campers registered so far for the Fall Ohio Roundup have taken a secret vote ( you didn't know about it did you?) and decided that anyone not in the production crew  will have to pay admission to watch this EPIC film being made.  There will be  an autograph session BEFORE the filming starts and the cast will be available to sign autographs for A FEE.
So anyone wanting to watch a real professional? crew in action had better get signed up soon because the limited spots are going like snowballs in June in Kentucky.

Hey, Everybody! I found my handy dandy little Sony Handycam and am charging it as we speak!!! (That's sort of a veiled threat to roders2 that maybe it might be a good idea to come and do the video) Because I really don't know how to do YouTube and all that stuff. But at least we have a camera just in case we don't have the professional camera man! Oh, oops, I almost forgot my real job. Looking for Pink Elephants! Rosie, how are you doing on your hunt?

I guess over 30 years in radio/tv was just preparing us for this rdome video LOL!

For the opening night premire I believe we'll need a theater for the showing, ice sculptures of the Rpod, some catering and search lights...and of course the pink elephants...

I think from how the weather has gone this year you guys need a rest or you will run out of hot air.  Wink Well on second thought . . . . .

You guys are welcome to make the video or both groups can and then we can let the forum membership vote for the best one.  We are definetly going for the $10,000 first prize on AFV if we make it.  We've already got the pink elephants, dancing girls and miscellaneous other attractions scheduled but we can cancel and just not pay them like Illinois does their bills.

Let us know what you decide and we will adjust our Roundup to suit.Question

PS: I think there is a snake charmer, sword swallower  and a tight rope walker scheduled too but I'm not sure.Star

I set up the r dome ( first time) but the hardest part was snaking the "rope" end via the channell on the r pod.  A couple more times and that plastic rope is going to wear to nothing.  They have got to come up with a better system. snap on latches would be a whole lot better.  Either way , we will post a vid next time we set ours up.  its pretty easy.... snake the rope end..... run the arch tube.....snap on the 3 extension rods.  The worst part about is is that.... the r dome walls do not hit the ground at the same level.  It does not matter how you snake the rope.  there is an engineering flaw somewhere in the design.  Even the netting for bug protection does not flow around the expand a stairs. OK! To all the foreigners (those north of the Red River) who challenged us to an R-Dome video -- click on my blog link in the siggie. We've posted two videos from the 2010 Texas Roundup. One video has the two person tag team method and the other shows a tall fat man doing the assembly solo.

Thanks for the challenge. It made me finally dig the video equipment out from under the bunk in the R-Pod. Who knows? We'll probably do more videos.

Great job with the video.  And I was worried there was just hot air coming out of Texas.
I've got to admit you guys did a little more professional presentation BUT we had the Pink Peril narrating our video and I'll bet a Yuengling we had more fun doing ours.
Again, thanks for doing the video and with the two combined I think they will help newbies with their R Dome installation.
Maybe someday we all can get together and REALLY do a bang up job on a really good video.

I couldn't find the one man (woman) show either.  Maybe the hot air carried it up, up and away.

Ok,Ok    I'll just copy olphart's post and put a copy here.

"As promised I have the video of putting up the Rdome on Vimeo:

It's pretty crude, with dropped frames, jumpy camera, bad sound but it shows how it's done.  I don't think MGM is gonna knock on my door any time soon"

Thanks again Pinky and olphart for doing this for the Podders.

And thanks to Yakdriver and the Texas crew for their rendition of how to put up the R Dome with out using Pink Elephants or dancing girls.  It can be seen here http://www.yakdriverblog.com/ - YakDriver's Blog  http://www.yakdriverblog.com/ - - -

I'm a newbie; getting my 171 this week.  I really want the dome as I think I could use this to corral my dogs some without having them on a tether all of the time but didn't know if I could put it up alone.  (I'm a short, fat girl!  :)   After watching this video, I think I can do it.  Of course, I always carry stepstools with me and I know it'll take me twice as long but I think it might be okay to purchase it.

I'm only about 5'6 and can put ours up alone without any stools or anything.  Just a bit of silicone spray.

We corral our doggies with ours when we're in it with the sides all zipped up.

I have a similar build and can put my dome up by myself.  Two points about corraling your dogs, depending on training and size, they can still get out.   My Lab mix likes to protect the campsite and warns passerbys (more bark then bite I don't take chances), and will even run to say hello (so he is on a tether).   The  two little dogs may or may not join the big guy, but they do fit easlily under the flaps.     I bring nylon rope and make a dog run (preferably three different directions so they don't tangle) with big clips, and hook up a watering bowl in the middle.

My point is the Dome won't really corral the dogs, you might want to look into one of the fold up playpens/corrals to put in the Dome.

That's good validation to know that you can do it.

If everything is down (sides, front), my dogs will mostly stay in it if I am "at home".  I wouldn't leave them in it if I weren't on site.  It looks like there is some kind of rubber thing that lays on the ground.  Thought I could lay bricks on it or even use some U shaped pins to hook it into the ground to make going out under it something they'd have to think about.  Won't know till I see it.

FYI on your run: I drive a one of those posts you can hook your dog to into the ground and attach a retractable leash for each dog to it.   They almost never get tangled that way.

Great video.  Thanks.   It takes me an hour to set up by myself.    Good humour on the site.   Only problem I had from directions supplied was what to do with those roof polls.

Don't have an r-dome yet. Thinking of buying one . Have a  172 r-pod and think a r-dome would just complete the unit... is there a person out there that has one for sale???

I found this video on YouTube.  Made it look easy.  I'm sure that's an illusion.

It is just that easy, but you'll be one of the first to put one on a 179.  A lot of us are interested to see how they will fit with the differently curved track.
