Hello, I'm looking at r-pods and went into a local dealer (near Seattle) to look at them. I've been thinking of purchasing from the good folks in Ohio. However, the R-pod brochure has a big warning about not buying locally. It says that if you do not buy locally you run the risk of your local dealer not providing warantee service.

I know most of the units on this list were purchased in Ohio. What experience do folks have with this issue?

Thanks,

Steve near Seattle

Anybody that services Forest River  can do warranty work. Just check around where you live. I bought mine at Couch's and have it serviced at Camping World In Charleston Sc.

TDRACE: Steve's question is about not getting service. Just because a dealer sells Forest River, and does service, doesn't obligate them to provide service to someone who purchased their trailer elsewhere.. as noted in the FR brochure encouraging local purchases.

My dealer will service units bought elsewhere, but they're at the bottom of the priority list.  Customers who bought from them are serviced first; then, travelers/emergency service are fit in as soon as possible; locals who bought their trailer elsewhere are last.  In the spring, when its busy, this can mean a 3-5 week wait while your trailer is in the shop.

With the quality that goes into the Pod's and the tons of info posted on this forum, I think I'd be pretty comfortable purchasing away from your home dealer. I have read lots of posts here and only seen a few where people required warranty service in the first year and if your handy you can probably fix any issues that come up.

There are other dealers near Seattle IE  Eugene, Portland, Boise, Billings, MT. that are much more 'local' than going back to Ohio!!

If I remember correctly someone checked with Camping World and they have a contract with Forest River to work on their products.

Thanks Theresa
