From time/time the manufacturer will replace an appliance or part in their camper. In the case of the r-pod Forest River upgrade the door assembly sometime in May.

The latest 'batch' of r-pods, produced in late June not have a thermostat controlled AC unit as a direct result of the posts FR has seen here at rpodnation.com!

Here are photos of the new AC units and wall thermostats on the 2010 r-pods produced in June.

Wish I could get that one on my 09!!!!   My 09, 11K AC does run and cool down well on one Honda EU 2000 - that should be a nice plus on my trip over the next couple of weeks!!

My 175 is a 2010 model according to the title and it doesn't have that type of control.

Terry if I am reading this right it only applies to R-pods built during the month of June and beyond. Yours was most likely built before June.      David

When we ordered ours we knew improvements (and bugs worked out) were going to be made in the future units.  It is something that anyone should expect regardless of what you buy.  We got a great deal on ours because we bought the first models.  I would do it all over again.  I'll live with what we got until it's time to replace.  Improvements are always good.

Is was this last late June production run that had the new AC units... glad to see Forest River make the improvement, but the prev AC was fine too, just not thermostat controlled.

Hey! Finally! I don't see to many 151 owners on this site. We have one as well. We're loving ours. The new air conditioner and thermostat look great. Wish we had one too!

I just posted a question about this before i found this thread.  I just looked at two 2010 units both made in june exactly one day apart.  I looked at a 172 made in june 9th and it had the older ac unit and than i looked at a 174 made one day latter and it had the new ac unit with the wall mount.

The dealer I spoke with had no idea about why the differences in ac existed.  This tread confirms for me and I will pass this on to the dealer.

We just returned from our trip and I did not need the AC very much as I had stated earlier. In fact in MA, ME, NH, and VT and a few others in between, I needed the electric heater more at night - in fact every night. Except for a couple cloudy, rainy days though, it was great - 70's to maybe 80 and 50s at night in New England. It was a nice break from the low to mid 90s of NC in July. Saw a lot of "snow birds" in their summer nesting grounds!!!!! It must be nice to be in Maine in the summer and south Florida in the winter!!!! Just add in license plates and an address in a state with no income tax and you've "got it all"!!! Or can someone add some more great ideas!!!! Thanks,

Rick- Our R-Pod 175 started construction on June 11th, and we have the old AC unit.  We live in the Northwest, so it shouldn't be an issue for us.  I just like bigger and better, so I do wish it had the newer unit.  But it seems to work well for us.
