New to the R-Pod family. Just bought a HRE 176 and can wait to get the run down in a few weeks. Just curious to know if the battery can power the 19 " TV inside or do I need an external power source. How much help would a 1000w generator help knowing I cant power the AC but is everything else ok?

Thanks for your help.

First of all welcome to the forum and congratulations on your Pod. As for the TV, if it's like my 177, it will operate only on ac not dc.  If you do a search, somewhere on the forum is a list of how much the different appliances draw current wise. From there you can figure power. My dealer supplied a similar list with all the other paperwork. For sure a 1000w generator will not power much, but should do the TV and lights quite well, along with a few appliances.

Racer|X| is correct.  If you have the Jensen 19" television, it is a 12V system.  It will run off the battery, so if you're running a generator, it should power the television.  The antenna may be a different story in that you may not pick up much with it.  We end up bringing DVDs with us that we can watch at night right before we head off to bed or if it's raining out.

We use the Honda 2000 to operate everything but the AC when we dry camp. DVD' s are great on a rainy day or at night, but we never seem to be close enough for the digital tv antenna to work. Thank you FCC for taking away analog TV and handing us over to the cable companies. Talk about free enterprise. Sorry for that, just slipped out.

Preach it! Right there with you! Man, digital stinks sometimes. At least with analog, if the signal was weak, you could still see the picture. But NOOOOOOOO, we have to switch to digital. ARRRRGGGHH! Angry

Hi Albertans....I am also a new pod owner, RP 178, and just got it home from the dealer and have been busy testing the systems! I bought a "smart tools" 2000W generator w/Yamaha motor to run all but AC when in the woods....works great and I'm sure your little 1000W will do all but the AC as well, just may have limitations on multitasking. To answer your question about the TV operation, my stereo will work off battery but TV needs external (generator, AC/DC) power to operate as is.

Got everything working except the DVD Angry but the TV worked great.
How do you get the DVD running?

This has nothing to do with the 19" TV being operated by battery alone.  This has to do with HOW TO POST A NEW TOPIC.  I can not figure how to do this- where do you go to start a new topic subject????????????????????
