That sounds like fun . But location would play a big part .

I agree.  Maybe we could see who's interested and then pick something centrally located.  12 to 13 hour drive is very possible for Ted and I.  Linda

Sounds like a blast!!!

Can you imagine if we could get 100+ Pods in one campground?  It may take awhile to find your campsite...lol.

Have been camping years with the Kids. Empy net now and will be picking up 173 in few weeks. Love to r-pod group camp. Maybe could set up one for Eastcost, Westcost and Cental Location. Love the east cost State parks. Have not been camping past Mississippi. Would love it someday.

Mine should be ready for pickup by May 25th.  A ruff guess!  I just ordered it last Monday.  Dividing the country into 3rd's would be a good idea.  Right now though there really isn't enough members to do that and have any kind of turn out.  For the first couple of years I think 1 spot in a central location would be best.

I'm up for it where ever it is!Smile

I started a location thread so we can get an idea where people are.  Here is a link to it: http:///www.rpodnation.com/forum_posts.asp?TID=83 - http:///www.rpodnation.com/forum_posts.asp?TID=83

Smile My wife and I picked up our 171 last Saturday April 18 and we love it.  Have done a 'shake down' in our driveway as may of you have.  We are planning our first trip this weekend to Door County Wisconsin.  We would be interested in a group R Pod camp adventure!  Where?

We would be interested.  I see there are owners in Wisconsin, Illinois, Iowa and Minnesota.  Perhaps we could assemble a midwest group in southwest Wisconsin.  State parks in that area are wonderful.

I like the idea of a WI meet.  How was your Door County trip?  We camp at the Wagon Trail Campground  in Rowley's Bay.  Beautiful area.  I see your are close by, we lived in West Allis for 5 yrs, and I went to Nathan Hale HS.  We currently live in New Berlin.

This would be great!  We have gotten to know several nice folks at theses outings.  We used to have a Scamp trailer, and they have meets a few times a year, we try to attend 1 or 2 each year.   Bill

Hey all.  We had a great time in our R Pod.  One weekend in Door County then the next at Rock Cut State Park in Illinois visiting some friends.  After the dealer fixed the check valve problem, all worked great.  Cool nights so we used the heater which was cozy.  Put the R Dome up and loved it!  Tons of room, easy set up and a great space expander.  Only flaw is those darn grommits on the pod itself.....don't fit well and tend to break.  I think that was a poor design.  We have made reservations for Memorial Day at a private camp ground near Wisconsin Dells.  We'll be visiting the International Crane Foundation.  We also plan to take the mother in law......so we get to test the extra bed.  (Don't worry, I love my mother in law).  Take care all and happy camping!!!

Okay, nobody is coming up with a place, so how about Missouri?  As far as numbers/members goes it's a good place.  Either that or where the R-Pod is made.  I can't think of where that is!LOL

Someone suggested earlier that it would be nice to meet in Indiana near the R-Pod factory.  That would also be a central location.

It was Campyman.  He wrote as follows, "Potatoe Creek Indiana eh. Sounds like a decent idea. Would be fun touring the factory and seeing where our beloved campers were "born".

I believe the R-Pod is made in Elkhart.  Potato Creek is a state park and it look very nice.  Also, Shipshewana is not very far and is a beautiful area.  I have stayed there in a hotel, but have family that camps there each year.  There is a wonderful Amish restaurant with great food and not very expensive either.  They also have the Amish flea market each week where the local Amish population brings all kinds of things ot market.  The flea market is huge and I believe it takes up an entire block. The Amish buggies are everywhere and the people are fasinating and very kind.  There are also lots of small gift shops in the area with crafts and fun things to see and do.  I remember Yoders where you can buy about anything.  There are also salvage yards from the camper factories in the area.  You can purchase trailer parts/pieces  there and lots cheaper than retail.  I remember they had cabinets, drawer handles, water heaters, bathroom fixtrues, nuts, bolts, and just about anything that would be in a mobile unit.  Maybe someone from Indiana would know more about the area and compare pricing, etc.  I wonder if you would get a group discount.

The group discount would probably depend on how many would go.  I'm sure that Forest River would be happy to set up a factory tour showing us the R-Pod being made.

It looks like they are made in Goshen, IN.

Amish Country - Goshen is located in the heart of Amish Country Guided house and farm tours take visitors on buggy rides and tours of Amish homes, barns, outbuildings, fields. A standard assortment of nationally known retailers and restaurants is also available in the Goshen area. Middlebury's Das Dutchman Essenhaus  and Shipshewana's restaurants and Amish specialty shops are both within easy driving distance. A pleasant drive in the country will reward the adventurer with a bevy of home businesses offering everything from brown eggs to handmade quilts to hand crafted furniture.

The RV Capital of the World - Goshen and Elkhart County also take pride in being the RV Capital of the World. Many Amish people contribute to the production of the fine recreational vehicles manufactured locally. Companies like Dutchmen Manufacturing, Jayco, and Keystone are just a few of the quality RV manufacturers in the area.

I like it!  Great graphics and layout.  Would the forum admin need to set up the factory tour and maybe take a vote on where and when to meet?

Too bad there isn't a Poll option on this forum.  That would make decisions a lot easier.  I think anyone could set up the tour if they could get a contact name and number.  I asked the admin if he could find out exactly where the R-Pod is made.  Most of the towns where RV's are made in Indiana are close together and there isn't that many campgrounds around there.  The county fair grounds has an RV park in it.  I have been there and it isn't bad at all.

The graphics were made using The Print Shop.  I used it to make a R-Pod T-shirt for myself but the transfer paper I used was about 4 years old so it didn't turn out very well.LOL

That is where a poll would come in handy.  I think people should start throwing out some dates.  A long weekend would be nice.  For me July 4th. weekend would be out because it looks like the Jeep and I will be trail riding then.  Other than that I'm pretty much open....I'm RETIRED!LOL

It would be good to have a few regional campouts.  I live in Northern California close to Sacramento about 100 miles from San Francisco.

There are lots of awesome places to camp out here in Northern CA.  If there are any other western based RPODERS out here and I know there are at least one other NOR CAL and some WA state people, maybe even some Utah folks would want to come out.

Any takers for some late summet or early fall camping podster get together.

Thx
Rick

We'd join you somewhere out West, if we can find a mutually agreeable time! Maybe we can meet somewhere in Tahoe after September when kids are back in school and the campgrounds are relatively empty.

Hey Rick- I think you were scheduled to pick up your rpod yesterday. So are you the proud owner of one now?!?!?

I think the idea of a National Annual Campout should wait until next year.  In the meantime maybe we could have state or regional ones.  Right now we are scattered all over the place and not really enough members are interested in a national one.
