Subject: 2016 Eastern Roundup

The next Eastern Roundup will be held in Traverse City, MI, at the Timber Ridge Resort and Campground, June 16-18, 2016. The owner has agreed to set aside a block of water/electric and full hookup sites for us to reserve for a designated time period. After that it's a first come/first serve basis. Their computer can start taking reservations for our event this coming September, so they'll be contacting me sometime that month with details on the reservation period, site numbers, deposit info, etc. They can accommodate early arrivals and late stays too.

There's so much to to in Traverse City that campground activities will be kept to a minimum. We'll probably have the traditional meet and greet campfire and a campfire hot dog night, but otherwise go out and explore this fabulous area.

One event we do have planned is a vineyard tour/wine tasting. Traverse City has more vineyards than Napa valley. We've chosen a tour company that will come to the campground and take us on a tour. The owner used to sell Forest River products and is excited about taking part in our event. Details on prices and how to reserve a spot will come later.

Look for the event in the rpod owners Facebook page. There's some links to things to do and see, and more info will be posted in the future.

Hope to see you there!

We have a couple more events in the works that are being planned by a couple of our attendees. One is a tour of the Great Lakes Maritime Academy and training ship , and the other is a tour of nearby Interlochen Center for the Arts.

In town you can golf at one of the 17 courses, ride miles of bike trails, charter a salmon boat, sail on a tall ship, rent kayaks, visit wineries, check out microbreweries, dine in gourmet restaurants, shop till you drop, or visit a lighthouse. With a little travel time you can climb sand dunes, visit a historic fishing village, see the fifth longest suspension bridge in the world, or see an internationally recognized art and music school. With a little drive time you can take a ferry to an island where only bicycles and horses are allowed. Take your own bike, or rent one. Rent a horse drawn carriage and drive it yourself, or hire a driver.

We have 15 pods that plan to attend so far, according to the Facebook page. If you haven't yet, check the rpod owner's Facebook page and look for the 2016 Eastern Roundup under events.

Later this month the park should be able to take reservations for our upcoming rally. We hope to block off some sites for a limited time for our group to reserve from. As soon as they give us the go, I'll make an announcement on both forums and on the Facebook page.

The 2016 ERU has been moved to Holiday Park Campground in Traverse City. The dates have not changed. They've already blocked off sites 200-224 for our use, but won't be taking reservations for 2016 until after the first of next year. As soon as the reservation window opens I'll cross post here and on the other forum. In the meantime, here's a link to the campground's web site:

http://www.holidayparktc.com/

Feel free to ask any questions about the ERU and/or the area and we'll do our best to answer them or point you in the right direction.

Hope to see you there. Let's fill this place up!

This sounds like a lot of fun and we would really like to attend. However, when we called the Timber Ridge campground this AM, they had no knowledge of the event. Any updates would be much appreciated and we look forward hopefully to seeing you there!

Hi, Mark. Could you possibly reserve us a spot in the Rpod block? Many thanks! Mike

OK gang! We have sites 200-224 and sites 159-170 blocked off for us for the roundup, June 16, 17, and 18th. Starting after Jan 5th 2016, you can call them and make your reservations. If you plan to come early or stay late, Dawn at Holiday Park will do her best to make sure you don't have to move, but the earlier you call after the 5th the better.

Linky to park map so you can start planning:

Be sure to mention that you are with the Rpod group to get a spot in our reserved block and receive 10% off your site.

Hope to see you all there.

You're welcome.

You were at the Port Huron roundup a couple years ago, right? Weren't you the ones who opted out of the rooftop AC unit and installed a skylight instead?

I just got off the phone with Dawn at the campground. She will continue to hold site 206 for us, but sites 167-170 are THE LAST 4 spots open in the campground during our ERU. She's had several calls from non pod campers who want these pull thru sites during our rally, and she's turned them away. She asked me if I thought our group was tapped out. I told her I know of at least one party who's still on the fence but we agreed that they couldn't continue to turn away campers for open spots.

She has agreed to hold sites 167-170 for our exclusive use through this coming weekend. On Monday Feb 15th she will begin booking those sites to non-podders. If you're considering attending you might want to go ahead and book your spot now. We'd sure like to see you there.

We've had another podder book site 167, and also site 162 has opened up. If you're interested in booking site 162 call Dawn at the park. She's suggested that if the sited doesn't fill up in a reasonable time, she'll move everyone on the right side up to fill in the gap.

Site 162 has been filled, but there's still sites available.

There will be an installation demo of the latest Bauer keyless lock system on Thursday night during the hot dog roast. Bauer has also agreed to donate two more sets, which we will draw for on Saturday night, along with other Michigan made goodies. The Bauer rep may be available to install the locks for the lucky winners if we bribe him with hot dogs. If not, there are enough of us around that we will install the locks for you if you trust us enough.

A couple of updates and changes to pass along. Bruce Bacon of Bauer Products will be visiting our rally on Thursday the 16th during our hot dog roast. Bauer supplies the locks to Forest River, and during his visit Bruce will be demonstrating two products: one is locks keyed alike so the same key opens both your entrance door and your storage compartments. The other is their very latest keyless entry system. Bruce has offered to donate several sets of each product for us to give away. With this in mind, we'll be moving our previously scheduled Saturday drawing to Thursday night. In addition to the Bauer locks, we'll be giving away various Michigan made goodies. I'll update our schedule in the pinned post ASAP. In the meantime, below are some links to Bauer's products you'll be seeing in Traverse City.

Just got off the phone with Jason Rogers of Pahaque Customs. He will be providing us with a new silver and green visor for a giveaway prize. This visor will fit any rpod 2011 or newer as is. If your pod is older, you'll need a different size keder tape sewn on the visor or different rail on the pod. Easy fixes.

Another place you may want to visit is Friske Orchards in nearby Atwood. They have over 300 acres of orchard, a cafe, and lots of Michigan made goods for sale.
