Just got back from 8 days in the Black Hills of South Dakota.  I stayed the first night at the Federal campground in the Badlands.  I have a senior pass, free entry and half price for camping.  They have very limited electrical sites, and I stayed 1 night.  Very interesting area.  Be prepared for rough twisty roads but main loop is paved.  I had reserved a spot a Big Pines RV park 2 miles west of Custer SD.  If you stay for a week you get 7th night free.  I recommend this park.  All sites have electrical and water and about half also have sewer.  The sites are shaded by large pines, gravel with tables and I saw everything from $250,000 motor homes to tents and tent campers.  Flush toilets, nice showers, laundry and small store.  The couple who own the park are very nice.  I met a couple from Texas with a new 171 on their first trip.  They were enjoying the new Pod.  I have been to the hills many times but love coming back to see all the sights.  It's best to enter the hills by the shortest route, park your Pod and day trip the sights.  Be prepared for what I call two handed driving on mountain roads.  When I was getting ready to leave, I found that I had a flat tire on the truck.  I called AAA and had someone out in a hour, got it pumped up and then fixed in town and was on my way.
