So there are 3 30gal tanks on my R-pod. I've had my pod for 4 years and never used any of them. That's not to say I won't, or that I don't need to know how. I just used city water hookup for showering, and have found that exhilerating. Can you drink water from a campsite hookup if it's filtered? I don't think I would, so I bring in bottled water. But you can use it for everything else, right? Bathing, brushing teeth, washing dishes. Since I don't use my black water tank, I wonder if you can convert it to another gray water holding tank? I think I've heard of that being done, but don't know how. Of course to have two fresh water tanks seems like a better idea, especially if you're dry camping. And what is "potable water"?

Lets start easy, potable water is simply water that is safe to drink.  Water in a campground should be potable unless otherwise labeled.  I filter my water and use bottled water for drinking.  I use the campground water for other purposes (dishes, bathing, etc).  I have seen folks on the interweb use the black tank as an additional gray water tank, not an additional fresh water tank.  It is a mater of plumbing the tanks together.  So adding a cross tube behind the drain valves on the gray and black tanks, would seem possible.  I know if you Google it, there are videos available.

Because it's "safe" to drink, doesn't mean I'm drinking it. I get water from the grocery store by the gallon for that, and coffee. It's cheap enough. Why filter the water if you're only using it for dishes and bathing, and not drinking?

I don't disagree.  Some potable water has a taste to it.  I filter the water to lessen contaminates that can possibly harm the TT water system, to include the water pump and water heater.  I have noticed my faucet screens stay cleaner and I get less of an alkali build up.  I don't know how old those campground water systems are or how they were built.

All CG water supplies are tested and licensed. Just like the systems at every other business. Even the few that are on wells. You can ask at the CG office, and they can show you the documents. NO CG owner wants his customers to get the heebie jeebies. Most modern CGs get their water from the local municipal water company. It's the exact same water going in to every house in the vicinity...

We run a inline filter for taste and sediment. We sanitize quarterly. We use the water system exactly as we do at home.

Wow. Thanks for all the input on water. I guess water is not water. Or, there is water, then there is water. At my grocery store, I can choose from Spring water, Drinking water, Filtered water, Purified water, Mineral water, and others. I don't know what a "modern" campground is. It's certainly not the State Park I was at before they closed. And many other campgrounds I've been to that look like the maintenance crew has taken a permanent vacation! Since I'm not drinking it, at least I can try to protect the pod, and start filtering.
