Have you price it out yet?

Thanks

Gmandaul:
The back is out of the question, for me without a axle riser.
Choice one would be to the tongue, right where it meets the body, if I can move the cabling out of the way, right next to the black hose carrier.
Choice two would be right behind the jacks.

The directions don't say, but I guess he made it flush with the body looks like it in the picture.  Anyway thats a nice carrier for around $50.00 that actually will fit.
Thats 77" by whatever for storage one side sewer hose (my hose is 58" other side cleanup hose), (Sorry HuronSailor another project), but two would be really nice.  One for the sewer hose and one for electrical cord, cable-cable or white hose or the possibilities are endless.

I so excited...only two more HOME projects I NEED to do, and I can continue on my PODMOD's.

Get yours done, can't wait for your comments and pictures..I'll be right behind ya.

Meanwhile back the the ranch..just waiting for the SUN to go down a little so I can go up on the roof can get the leaves before our cold front hits.  Forecast RAIN RAIN RAIN and more RAIN.
Good thing I don't have to CLEAN RAIN GUTTERS tooLOL.

Hmmm, that "high tech prototyping system" might be marketable.  I can see it all now:  Ladies and gentlemen, only 4 easy payments of $19.95.  BUT WAIT........call now and we will throw in, absolutely free, 1 sheet of high tech prototyping system paper, a $500.00 value.

... not for $39.95...  not for $29.95...  call now and get it just for the low, low price of $19.95.  That's right, just $19.95.  Call NOW!

gmandual:

The angle iron that attaches to the frame, did you drill through the frame and used a screw and nut (w/lockwasher) or a metal screw to the frame.

Picked up all the parts (except the above), and I'm going to put it together tomorrow morning before it gets to hot to work outside.  (It's 90degrees today, can't even try out my heater for the next trip north).  Also what did you use to cut with.  I have hack saw, skill saw and a circular saw, I think the last one is over kill.  Also have tin snips that should work on the vinyl gutter.

Thanks for all the pictures.  As always I take the instructions to Lowes and they help me find all the things I need.

I don't have to cut the angle iron in came in 6" pieces, so I don't have to cut that.

I do also have a hand saw, (but being a woman I try power tools first, sometimes I just don't have the raw strength needed.  WORST comes to WORST I can always get someone to cut for me.

About the gas line, the screw thats holding it in place, puts the gasline and screw out just enough so there isn't a neat fit.  I'm going to take out the screw and see it I can move it a little otherwise I guess I'll just have to move the whole thing over at least an inch.  So maybe go back to up closer to the tongue.

Metal Screw (self tapping?)then lock washer, the Lowes guy told me that once I got everything together and was happy then I should use the threadlock.  Did you and should I use the threadlock stuff first time attaching to the frame, or should I do a dry dry first? What will the do to the metal screw?  Should I have a second set for once I sure.

Thanks for your patience and help.Thumbs Up  My generation of women weren't allowed in auto shop or wood shop, but here we are doing it all with a little help from our friends.

A woman with instructions is also a very dangerous thing.

Sewer Hose Holder CompleteStar

Cut a 7ft long piece, Use Hack Saw on both Fence Post and Gutter

The Post cap I got was a little different so I put an eye screw instead, added washers after pictures.

Handles were pretty quick

Put a piece of 3" wood where the hose end and the gives me room for other things.  Just an example.

FINALLY EVERYTHING IN ONE PLACE

THE HOLDER extends 41/2 inches out on either side.  If I don't like it, I can always make it shorter.  I just hate to bend over and then under to get to things.

Thanks for all the help.

OH YEAH..Have 36" left, I can just keep it and use as brace when needed.

I started at 8 and finished at two.  That included two trips to ace hardware, and a couple of water breaks.  I would pick the day when we have an heat warnings of 105.  Most of the morning was in the shade.  But that  last bit was a killer.  Next is the Battery cut off switch, have the parts, but it's too hot now, maybe this evening.

Pepperpod

Last question first, the hope it tht it will stay on, my son said the little cords won't last long, but I'll probably put bigger ones later.  The cords connect to the metal eye screw and pull the cap back tight.  Plus as you can see from the picture there is a little insert that comes with it that makes the cap fit snug.  I will be gluing that to the cap.

First Question.. The thread talks about self tapping screws that is what hold it to the frame.
I use the 3/8 ones and their pretty strong.  there is a link to that as well.  The spot I (we) picked has the gas line running right by it, and causes a little problem on the drivers side of the pod, but the other side it flush with the black water tank.  I just unscrewed the holding screw (to the frame)and now the line rests on the holder (it really doesn't have alot of movement it's a copper line).  Couple other problems with this side is I screwed the angle iron (which lowes sales in small strips) a little high on the frame.  I didn't want to make more holes so I just got longer holding bolts to make up for the difference (one side has 5.5 bolts and the other 6).  Secondly I bolted the angle iron to the frame and didn't have the bolts in, so right now it's upside down.  I'll have to detach everything and put it back together (and use the threadlock), when it's not so hot out.  Should be no big deal (of course I say that now)LOL.

As always, I start work on the disconnect switch (which I'll post later), and I have to go back to the store and get something.

Hope that helps.
Lee

You make this sound so easy and understandable. Kudos to both you and gmandual for a great mod. The rain gutter to make it an easy pull out and give extra storage for other items is terrific.

Warning...not all fence posts are created equal.  I used the appx 5" square.  Which is what is needed for the sewer hose...there are smaller ones out there, not all stores carry the correct size.

For an easier alternative, just get a sewer hose case from Camping World and be done with it. No cutting or guess work with this.

Kenn,

While your approach will work, it lacks the feature of the slide out tray (see below) which greatly reduces the mess and fuss of handling dirty, germ-ridden sewer hoses. The mod was a piece of cake to do, once you find the right post, cap and gutter pieces, all available at Lowe's.

Unless Camping World has a new product, the elbows and newer attachments will not fit (especially the Rhino hose that I had), because I went to the store and tried it outDead.   That was my dilemma as a novice (i still consider my self a newbe) to camping last year, is I wanted all the sewer parts to be together and not near other storage, or may I just a little OCDConfused

I guess thats also why a have three water proof tool boxes, one attached to the tongue with all the things needed to hitch up the Podterfly, second one for r-dome and outside stuff (cords, stakes, suction cups etc) and third for tricycle stuff (helmets, gloves, bug spray and sunscreen for cycle trips).   Sorry got off topic.

You might want to check out the early posts (spring/summer last year) on sewers, we were all going around and around trying to find a better way, till someone (who I THANK very much) found the mod on a another website.

Anyway that's my five cents.

We have a box that holds both our elbows (15' main and the 10' "el cheapo" emergency hose).

I must admit that I do like the design you have with the sliding holder and if I had to do it over again, I would probably do it your way. Although, from the looks of your holder, I don't think it will hold a dominator hose. So, there goes the dilemma again...LOL

No need to go broke on this hobby: just set your priorities on what you really need before your wants.

This is what Craig came up with.   A 6 inch PCV pipe that he mounted between the LP tanks and the battery.  The toilet wand and connections fit in it together.  He didn't want to mount it beneath the trailer as we sometimes have to travel off road through rutted fields with the pod.

Great Job,  I actually was thinking of a 6 inch PCV pipe (even picked up the ends on sale) and was trying to figure out how to mount it, when the Fence idea came around.

Love your Dual battery and LP system (maybe next year).

Great mod - - just curious though    ...why you went with a square drain hose holder rather than a round piece of PVC ?

Thanks,

OH that's easy...Someone posted directions and I was able to followLOL
A woman with instructions is a dangerous thing! Wink

The round PVC they sell for the sewer hose is 4" round so that means none of the fancier attachments will fit.  If you go to 6" Round PVC is a heavier (thicker wall) and ME_OF_LITTLE_SKILL would have had a hard time attaching (I was looking around when this design came out).  They are 6" Vinyl Fence Posts that are really light weight and easy to cut to size.

I also kept the extra cutter and use it to hold the sewer line at an angle.  I use the front two for sewer hoses, spray cans etc.  The back to have the poles for the r-dome, tent stakes, umbrella pole, extension cord for outside lights, clips and such for outside area.  I haven't figure the actual storage area, but this is what I have.  6"x 6" X 80", is a lot of room and makes setup and take down easier for me, I have mine set so they can slide out either direction.

Hope this answers your question.

Why is it all these sewer holder mods (and other Pod mods) that us "amateurs" have come up with are better than the original Forest River factory design? Don't they hire professionals to do these designs? Maybe they should hire some amateurs (that actually use these campers)!

Great idea, thanks. BTW, what did you use for "end caps" to close off the 6"x6" posts? are there things made that can be attached to the posts for that purpose?

Yes, they are normally with the posts (there a piece to glue to the post then the cap fits snugly), then you just drill a hole for a handle and to secure.

I don't think they sold well in the South, because my Lowes doesn't stock them anymore, but you can still order them.
