It's time to start planning.Star  Do we want to do Winter or Spring?

How long do the Winter Texans stay, because it would be Podtastic for them to Join?

Winter could be Feb 15 Presidents Day, or Spring Sometime in Mar or April.  Wacko

If we do one we can still do the other?  Since we can camp pretty much all year do we want to setup a quarterly camp out (pick central Texas campground and just go there every quarter).

How far are Northern Texans willing to travel (to get warm)?  Do Winter Texans travel? Star

I haven't seen any new Texans lately, but I know my dealer has 5 or 6 on his lot, saw 5 on a lot in The Woodlands, so my guess is a couple of those will join the nation and we'll have a pretty good size group.

Of course no matter what state or country you live in all are welcome.  My guess is that half or a third of all travelers have to go though Texas to go somewhere else.  Maybe we should also though out a summer schedule so we could meet Podders that may be passing through.

Just same thoughts.

CryTexans, Where are youCry.

Ok I'll go first.

I would like to have a Round-up in Feb around Presidents day, because that will give working people a extra day.  I'd like to go to the Harlingen Arroyo Colorado (Hugh Ramsey Park), park of the World Birding Center. I pick this site because it has (reports to have) nice hike and bike trails. I can't find any camping info yet, but I think it would be a nice place to visit and camp near by.  Even in Feb it wouldn't be to cold during the day.

I would like to have a Round-up in April (or late March) after the Spring breakers have left, and before the Winter Texans leave.  San Antonio hill country or Houston Area lots of state parks in the area , and those Northern Pods who couldn't get south in the winter will still have a chance for a spring round-up.

These are my thoughts and ideas, if we don't get plans going, we won't be able to take advantage of the state parks.  Please put in your thoughts.

The Eastern Round up really sounds like it will be fun, but it's 1300 miles one way for me and would eat up my entire travel budget (which would not be fun).  So lets get some round-ups closer to home.

Okay Lee.  I am game for the April or March Roundup!  I cannot do the Presidents Day one because that is not a holiday at my work place.Cry

We would love to meet the Winter Texans and anyone else that attend at that time.  We had a GREAT time at the last one and look forward to another.

I only picked that weekend (presidents day) in case people wanted to stay an extra day, you could come and just not stay the extra day.

But it looks like we are the only two Texans alive, everyone else is hibernating (except for Maryjo is on a trip).

Any suggestions on where to go?

How about Huntsville State Park.  I looked at the website and they are doing some work there on utilities this winter but I am sure there will be room in an area that they are not working in.  We usually go to Martin Dies State Park and really like it but Huntsville is a little more centrally located.  What do you think?

How about Lake Livingston State Park , its near Huntsville . I Podded there last March and had a good time . Nice campground with full hook ups and good fishing . Can't do Feb but late March or April , May would be ok .

CryTexans, Where are youCry.
I'm revisiting this thread in hopes that there is more interest.  If we pick a state park in the middle of the state (between San Antonio-Austin-Houston (bottom of area two on the state park map) we could go on a regular weekend.  Friday Nite (Late), Saturday and go home Sunday. Middle or Late March would be good if we can find a place and get reservations.  Just a nice little POD.away weekend, since quite of few of us work and can't do long weekends.

Please add your two cents.
Can you make it?
Which weekend is best?
Which park would you like or have experience with?
Any extra thoughts.

Lee,

We are up for a Round Up! Clap Centrally located would be great.  I will look at the State Park website today but as long as we are with friends just about any park will be okay with us.  Thumbs Up  As far as the date - that is kind of open right now.  We would like to go to Rusk State Park sometime in April and ride the Texas State Railway and see the Dogwoods in bloom.  We don't have a set date for that as yet.  Smile

I would love to take a train ride at Rusk State Park but it's about 8 hours drive and a little far for a 2 day weekend. (Maybe when I really retire or at least move to San Antonio I won't be so far south). So far it's just us two at Bastrop in Mar.

TEXAS INVITE Ya’All Come

Here's a link to the invite.

ff404mag,
I'm free (as far as I know for the 23-25 April), I can manage a 200 mile drive on a Friday afternoon/evening.  Any ideas.
