Glad to see how many Podders are making the trip to Huntsville. Ain't Leo is in the other room and driving me crazy shouting orders about what we need to do. First order of business is menu for the potluck. She now tells me that she is making a tub of refried bean chilli and some rounds of Mexican cornbread w/sausage.

If anyone is having trouble with the R-Dome problem, I'll be happy to help you get it squared away. I've got ours down to about 10 - 12 minutes singlehanded.

Any ideas of things to do while we are there would be greatly appreciated. I'll want to do a short video clip of all of us to put on the forum -- letting other Podders know to eat their hearts out. We were having a great time in Texas. I'll be shooting about a bazillion pictures that we can link to on the forums.

Any suggestions from anyone else?

Looking forward to meeting everyone! Is anyone bringing their dog? I am  thinking about bringing Brindle. He is good with other dogs. It takes him a little bit to get used to new people, but is just very protective of me. He is part lab and german shepard. He travels good and loves to go camping.

Daystarsc started a thread for Hunstville.

We proabably should start posting there for the 2nd-annual-texas-roundup-2010,  as of Today I'm planing on bring the Lab and two little ones.  Going to checkout if it's possible.   The two little ones went to ERU and theat worked out well.

Hi!

I recently purchased a 176 and I will be using the r-dome for the first time next week...do you have any suggestions to  make my intial set-up easier?  From what I am reading people say it can be very difficult to set up!  Thanks so much!  Happy Podding!

Welcome, Jason.

A couple of us have covered this in other threads, but to get a quick solution to you I would suggest the following:

Tighten all of the screws that hold the rail to the trailer. Use some emery cloth to buff any burrs off the screw heads.

Use the emery cloth to round off the edges of the channel, paying particular attention to the leading edge where you feed the edge of the R-Dome into the channel. After all of this, you can use a little Rustoleum to keep the buffed edges from rusting.

The last step is to spray the entire channel with some SILICONE lube.

By following all of these steps I'm able to feed the edge of the dome all the way into the railing without using a ladder, box or any other help. This seems to be a big complaint from most folks, but I haven't had a problem since I followed the above steps.

The directions that come with the dome are pretty straight forward. Put the long hoop in after you connect the dome to the trailer. Then put the "rafters" up. Then stake it out if you've got any wind.

Be bought a 10 X 12 piece of artificial turf to use as a floor. Makes it really nice if you have a dirt site. Cuts way down on tracking crud into the Pod.

Hope this helps. If you have any other questions, there are dozens of fine Podders here who will be glad to help you out. If you're new to RV's, take the time to read some of the threads. It's been a good education for me.

Look forward to seeing you guys on the road some day.
